Twin Cities Bottle Hunt

This thread will probably get shut down. Someone usually reports it, they don't like other hands in their cookie jars... But , Im all for it

I saw that Henn-Lake tweeted out that they found some whilst taking inventory (within the last day or 2) , I'd suggest calling beforehand

 

I'm not a Twin Citites resident, but was in town last weekend and was searching for various beer, one of them being Steel Toe Wee Heavy. After looking at multiple locations in the South metro, finally found some at South Lyndale Liquors. They had about 6 bottles left in the cooler. They also had about 6 bottles of Schells Star of the North sitting on a shelf at $11.99. Was blown away to see those sitting there. Snagged one of each, so there was some left as of last Saturday night.

 

Wow, 6 bottles of Star of the North? I knew it would be out there, especially since I spotted one in October, but would expect 6.

 

I hate to give up "my spot" but Liquor barrel on excelsior has been a pretty decent goldmine lately... As of a couple weeks ago they had the last two star of the north beers, a three year verticle of lift bridge commander, wee heavy, and many other interesting bombers. You're welcome.

 

saw Backwoods at an MGM last week. unfortunately, dont recall which one. wasnt interested in snagging it, so didnt think much of it. otherwise, only other place ive seen it recently was over in River Falls WI.

and if people are still looking for Steel Toe Wee Heavy, Big Top at Ridgedale still had some as of last week.

 

I like this thread! Has anyone seen any Bent Paddle Double Black still hanging around?

 

That store has had some gems from time to time for me. The GV location isn't bad either.

 

I'm also curious if Grapefruit Sculpin is going to hit Twin Cities shelves....

 

This may not help because it's not super local, but saw a bunch at Keyport in Superior, WI last weekend.

 

Do you or anyone know if it is true the brewery still has gift packs of Vanilla Cold Press and Double Black?

I moved from Hopkins and leaving that place makes me sad.

My advice to bottle hunters is to head to the burbs. I live in the south metro now and stumbled upon some bottles of LB Commander the other day from 2012. I took them up to the counter and asked the manager (with tongue slightly in cheek) if he would discount these "old" bottles I had found. He said his cost was $11 and he could do $12 if I was paying cash or $13 with credit card.

 

Grabbed Dissident today at Big Top Midway.

 

What did you see for a price on dissident? I saw $19 today, eek..

 

Falls also has it. or at least as of Tuesday they did.

 

wow.... things are getting dumb around here... that is a $13 bottle of beer at the most.

 

Not that recent but I was at the brewery on 12/27 and they had a gift pack of 1 vanilla cold press and 1 double black and a bottle opener for $40

 

... and the $16 six packs of Victory at Sea that are seemingly everywhere else in the country.

 

I feel like we're not going to see VaS, which makes me sad, as it's one of my faves...

 

Yes, at least six sitting there. Right next to it were bottles of North County Brunette as well (maybe 4 of those).
