Twin Cities Bottle Sightings (2021)

Top Ten in Roseville still had all three of the varieties of the Prairie stouts from a few weeks ago - Bourbon Paradise, Mocha Noir, and BBA Weekend.

 

BA Pistol Whip at F44. $21 a 750ml crowler. Bought two. Pretty amazing. They had Abraxas. Some Gravity Well variants. TONS of solid IPAs.

Oh and amazing cheese!

 

And Vinifera always has great stuff hanging out if you want to come west by me - but you have to endure the a*hole owner who hates everyone that walks into the store. Just smile and nod and pick out great beer and decent wine.

I just moved out that way. Is he that bad where I should avoid supporting them?

 

Not at all. I still go there. I just know what I’m getting - not friendly, no problem letting you know it’s his store. I endured a scolding after I grabbed multiple BA Prairie beers a few months back because I didn’t follow the unspoken, unposted limit one rule. I had to literally march them back to the shelf. And then he acquiesced and let me buy a second of each. We’ve warmed a bit to each other, he has great stuff that hangs around a little bit longer than some other places (why I’m warming) and I spend a decent amount of money there (why he’s warming - though I’m not sure why a business owner needs to warm to their customers). But there it is. Rest of his staff is beyond awesome. So go check it out for yourself. But I am always pro small business.

I tired talking to him, thing is he is full of shit too. Last time I spoke with him I asked if he had a specific Junkyard crowler. His reply was that they weren't getting deliveries from them anymore which was fine with him because they got a new brewer who wasn't as good as the last head brewer and the industry as a whole was turning away from crowlers in general.

Had a bottle of Surly Darkness for New Year's. New to the twin cities area (maple Grove). I have decided to make this a Surly year. Since there tap room is closed, what is the best store for their beers.

 

Right now Muni in Wayzata is the shit. They have Darkness and all three BA Darkness variants on the shelf still. I live in Plymouth and that’s my go-to spot.

 

Has anyone seen Fair State/Schell's Union Lager cans in stores yet (in/near St. Paul?)

DDH King Sue (bottles) at SLL. Bottled a week ago. I don't drink much TG anymore, but this remains a great beer.
