I have a buddy driving to Ohio in about a month. He lives very close to Surly and will be bringing some goodies from there but he's unfamiliar with any other breweries in the area. He'd like to bring some great beers down this way but needs direction. I am not familiar with the scene there either hence the thread! What should he try to procure and what recommendations do you have?? Thanks for the help.
Indeed. Steel Toe. Indeed. Bent Paddle. Indeed. Bent Paddle. Like seriously that is what I end up buying most of the time, Indeed makes some fantastic beers, Steel Toe has Size 7 which is a fine IPA, but it is in bombers so I don't buy a lot. Bent Paddle does some great things as well. He can't go wrong with those 3.
I got a Bent Paddle beer as an extra in a trade and it was awesome, if I were in the area I would want to grab some more.
I'll be there in July. http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/minneapolis-summer-trip.258866/#post-3303174
Bent Paddle -Pilsner -Black Ale -Coffee Black Ale -Paddle Break Blonde Indeed -Daytripper -Let It Ride Town Hall -Growler of Masala Mama That would be a great start! Cheers!
Along with those already mentioned, Lift Bridge Farm Girl and Hop Silo and Irish Coffee Stout if he can find it. Sisyphus porter and West Coast IPA are solid and they just started doing 750ml crowlers. Barley Johns, solid beers, really good porter. Steel Toe's Collision Course just came out too, solid DIPA.
Surly's Coffee Bender is great, as is Overrated. Schell's makes a ton of great beer too. Their Noble Star series is just amazing.
