Oh, man. Wouldn't that be wonderful? To be quite honest though, if the beer is good, I don't care much what they make. But I would absolutely love to have access to some of the more delicate styles from a local brewery. But again, it's gotta be good.

They want “Freshness & Variety” commingled with an educational environment. Twin Elephant’s audience, and many start-ups for that matter, might be all-encompassing. Hence, not just trying to appear to craft beer carnivores but to all, which can’t be solely done with IPA's. Focusing in on one target audience, and ignoring the income from other parties, can diminish any start-ups chances of survival in this crazy world + variety gives them more of an opportunity to "discuss and learn about beer"

“If you have beers that everyone will drink, you’re going to get people to have that first craft beer, and that will get them into others…Everybody needs to start somewhere. Some of us came into all this by getting hooked on our first IPA, but others aren’t there, and we’d rather get those people started with our beers” (Jeffers, Dustin. “Saltwater Brewery.” BA Issue #111: pg.43)…Not implying this is the philosophy of Twin Elephant

Irrespective, and seeing as though they love to brew many “sour and wild styles,” it’s good to stay positive

Soft opening the other night featuring: "Rugged Snuggle, Can I Kick It?, On the Off Chance, Diamond and Pearls, Shirmmy Ye and Juicy Busey."…in other words “Indian Pale Ale, a Hoppy Saison, Red Kolsch Style, Red Ale, American Brown Porter and a Milk Stout:”
    • "Some of them came from home brewing that we brewed for years and years and years
    • “favorite on tap is probably No. 2 Juicy Busey
    • “We watch market trends and listen to the customers and see what styles are popular."
Granted, I myself was not popular enough to join the soft opening, but am intrigued to engage in Twin Elephant’s product

This was just posted on the Twin Elephant Facebook page
"Excited for everyone to check out our grand opening but wanted to clear up a couple things. Our hours will be Sat 12-10 and Sunday 12-6 as long as we still have some beer in kegs. Due to our small batch size we will not be offering growler fills to ensure everyone that comes through gets to try all the beers. We will be selling growler glass to fill at a later date. We think there will be quite a few people coming by so we ask you all to be patient if there are lines and waits for pours. This is all new for us and patience is a virtue and mindfully crafted fresh beer is hopefully worth it."

Just left and was impressed. I had all 6 beers, a flight of five 4ounce serving and a 1/2 pint on the IPA. All the beers were good. The IPA, Hoppy Saison and American Red Ale were excellent. The place was packed and service was slow, no big deal it was their first day. The place itself in beautiful as nice a tasting room as I have seen.
There was a line out the door when I left.

I was there, but I left. I got there around 1:15ish - passed by it the first time as I didn't know exactly where it was and the temporary signage wasn't immediately evident. Waited in line for about 15 minutes until I actually got to the entrance. From there, I saw there were at least 30 people ahead of me just waiting for the "tour". There was a gentleman at the door who said they were over capacity in the tasting room and that was causing the delay, and he said the wait was "about 30 minutes". Considering I had been there 15 minutes already, only saw 3 people walk out and thought the 30 minute wait was shortchanging it, I turned around and left. The crowd seemed to be predominantly family - a lot of "older" couples who all seemed to know each other. I'll head back next week.

Damn. Maybe I won't be going today. I was hoping to head over around 6-7 thinking that all the people that suddenly care about running horses would clear out. But maybe I'll just be waiting til next weekend.

Anyone been by recently? Is it still nuts? I'm kind of in the area and was thinking of stopping by but don't have much time.

I did end up stopping by but the line was too long and I didn't have the time to stay. Place looked really nice though from what I saw. I've heard some really positive reviews so hoping to be able to get back up there really soon. Exciting stuff.

worth the wait. they've done a great job. I think they said they're running 4 barrel batches. grabbed a flight in the tasting room. the IPA was excellent, kolsch dialed-in, porter well done with lotsa coffee. milk stout bit heavy on the lactose, tad too easy on the mouth-feel. red is right on and the saison is too. nice launch folks, see ya soon.

good to hear! everyone I know who went said that the beers were solid and the brewers seem open to variants/experimentation, so looking like good things ahead

whoa - just heard it was $6.50 for a pint and $4.50 for a half pint. I guess they're certainly NJ's most expensive brewery, considering that nothing is over 7.5% despite that price lol. here's hoping it's worth the $$, and that growler fills aren't excessively priced. I'm using Magnify as a reference point, considering the similar proximity, so hopefully it's $14-17 for growler fills and not anything more for these basic styles.

also hoping the balance shifts from 4 malty beers, 1 IPA, and a saison to some hoppier non-reds for the summer months :grinning:

Obviously not the best ratings but the Untappd ratings from the first weekend are:

    Shimmy Ye: 3.8
    Juicy Busy: 3.76
    Diamonds and Pearls: 3.87
    Can I Kick it?: 3.71
    Rugged Snuggle: 3.74
    On the Off Chance: 3.69

Gotta figure those are bit overrated due to the first weekend too.
