    Hi,

Going to be in Atlanta this week, Wed/Thurs, staying in Buckhead first night and at the W Downtown the second night. Will not have a car. What bars should I hit that will have cool local/regionals? I would love to try the local hoppy stuff. Don't know if you have the cloudy NE style or just great West Coast styles. Happy to try either ones. Not looking to take anything back with me.

Sorry that I can't bring any Trilliums with me on this trip for trade.

    Uber/Lyft will be your friends.

But, most everyone will tell you that Buckhead is a beer wasteland. It sort of is, but there are some good spots out there. Industry Tavern, Seven Lamps and Kaleidoscope in Brookhaven. Not necessarily beer focused, but have solid lists.

Downtown is a little better. Mellow Mushroom, Max Lager's, Cypress Street Pint and Plate, World of Beer are all pretty close by. By Thursday, some breweries in West Midtown (15 min. Uber/Lyft ride) will be open. Second Self, Red Brick and Scofflaw are all about a mile away from each other.

With a couple of exceptions, the southern folks do the west-coast IPAs.

That's very helpful. Thank you. Would you be able to rank them if I was able to only get to one or two? I can probably change my hotel location, if that is helpful at all.

If your hotel location can be changed, look into Decatur or 5 Points areas. Brick Store Pub, Wrecking Bar Brewpub, and Porter Beer Bar are places I'd visit while in town.

Torched Hops (brewpub) is also close to downtown and makes solid beer, and has a good list of guest taps and cans/bottles.

Brick Store (beer bar) is right next to the Decatur Marta station. Porter (beer bar) and Wrecking Bar (brewpub) are a 10-15 minute walk from Inman Park station. Wrecking Bar does a rotating series of NE IPA's. Right now they have a strawberry milkshake version that's fantastic, but running low. I would think the next variant would be tapped soon, but I'm not sure. They also have a DIPA that's more west coast and an IPL. Torched Hop may have both kinds on, but I think they usually lean more west coast. It's been a while since I've been there but I definitely recommend them. Scofflaw is a production brewery that mostly does IPA's (both kinds) and they're open Thursday night. That would require an uber/lyft.

When in Buckhead, beer growler Brookhaven is right next door in Brookhaven and has 45 tap lines. I'd say about half are local/regional and they do growlers to go and pints on site. 4 stores up from Kaliedoscope as mentioned above.
    Rankings to go to imo...
    1. Porter beer bar, just check their website, an absolute must go
    2. Wrecking bar brewpub, walking distance from porter and is putting out the best beer in Atl imo
    3. Brick store pub, great cellar list but food and draft lists are better at porter
    4. Scofflaw, putting out amazing ipas
    5. 3 taverns brewing, putting out great beers

Only ones doing NE style ipas are wrecking bar and torched hops. 3 taverns does every now and then. Have a great trip!

    Hi Guys,

Just wanted to write to thank you for the insights. I ended up going to Wrecking Bar first. I had a couple of excellent IPA's (NE Style) and a taste of a barrel aged Stout that was great as well. Then I went to Porter and found gold in the form of Cantillon! Great seller selection overall. I'm glad I was able to knock Lou Pepe off my bucket list (still need Fou Foune). I heard from others as well that Brickstore has a superb cellar and will definitely go there next time.
