I have been excited to read about the progress of Phil Markowski's newest creation. Seems they have 4 beers including a Double IPA ready to go and have bourbon barrels in for "Igor" a barrel aged Russian Rye Imperial Stout. All sounds good and hoping this brewery turns out some great beers. Has anyone heard about dates for availability yet?

Given that they've got pictures of full kegs and bottles on their Facebook page, I'd guess very soon. How soon is soon? According to them, "SOON IS SOON."

Yes, from what I understand we will be seeing their beers hit stores within the next two weeks. Its been pretty exciting to see that dilapidated old factory transform into what will be CT's largest craft brewery. From the look of things, they will be making some pretty nice brews too. I'm doubly pumped to have it in my back yard, can't wait to get down there for their 1st tasting, which will hopefully be soon as well.

Great addition to the NE brewing scene. Anxious to try their beers.

Welcome relief from all the under-capitalized nanos & their mediocre barrel-aged, overpriced beer. Finally a brewery that is financed properly & IMO will become a force in the region, given their opening size, brewing expertise & experience, & focus on the brewery as a real business, not some overgrown homebrew operation.

Perhaps 2 roads can fulfill my dream of having a local/regional brewer that can satisfy my desire for a readily available, consistently fresh, affordable hoppy IPA?

While the lack of dates on cans can be an issue, Sea Hag would seem to meet all of your criteria.

Your first two, though, seem potentially contradictory: if a beer is readily available, it's more likely not to sell out quickly and therefore you'll find older stock still on shelves, while sporadically available beers are pretty much guaranteed to be fresh when you do see them.

No Sea Hag in MA since NebCo pulled out a little while ago.

Ah, gotcha. Hopefully NEBCo can return once they figure out how to expand capacity.

From the Ale Street News, Oct/Nov. 2012:

"Bathed in natural light from wrap around windows, the mezzanine level tasting room and bar(w/game room!) for 200 people provide a birds eye view to survey the entire brewery."

    Head Brewer Phil Markowski:
"Were going to be doing 4 year round beers,"

    D.I.P.A. called "Road to Ruin."
    White I.P.A.
    Saison
    Dry hopped Pilsner
    Seasonal Brews as well.

I saw on facebook that they have a R.I.S. called "IGOR" in the tanks, showing off some Rye Whiskey barrels as well. They hope to open by mid December.
I work just a few blocks away,so I have been observing the completion of the brewery since the spring, place looks pretty good.Looking 4ward to stopping by after work in the future for tastings/growlers/beer talk.

    Cheers All......

For some reason, I was under the impression that they were opening this Friday..

What happened to the Helles they were talking about when they first announced they were starting? I guess it got shelved for more beer geek attention? Was hoping this would be my non-beer geek craft brewery savior now that SN has gone to the darkside too, but I guess when you get a beer geek darling brewer, plans change.

The pub looks like a cool place to have some beers though.

It is great to see any company in Connecticut purchase and renovate an old building. This is one that has easy access to I-95, Long Island Sound, among other benefits. It was once home to U.S. Baird, who made machine tools for over 100 years that were sold globally.
Two Roads has brought in jobs and more hiring will continue with time. Beer simply makes this new addition to CT shoreline all the more enjoyable.

Disappointed in the initial flagship offerings. White IPA? Isn't that fad over? & aren't there enough saisons around NE nowadays (especially mediocre, overpriced ones)? Would've rather seen a single IPA than a DIPA right off the bat.

Maybe they'll come to their senses & ditch one or more of these in favor of less trendy styles.

My Star salesman invited me to attend their "industry only" event on Wednesday to sample their beers. Hoping I can make it out of work early. He also told me they will probably start distributing on Thursday.

Not ones brewed by Phil Markowski there aren't.

And my guess would be that, given their potential economies of scale, Two Roads beers won't be overpriced at all.

If it can compare to Victory Helios (which seemingly has disappeared from the New England market) @ $3.49 per bomber/$9.49 sixer, I'd be a regular consumer.

I hear you! Helios is my favorite Victory brew, but it has been getting tougher to find. I'm really hoping that Two Roads year-round Saison will hit that $9-10 sixpack mark, and since Phil literally wrote the book on farmhouse ales, I'm confident he'll be putting out something tasty. Fingers crossed.

I'm with you woosterbill, I hope they make reasonable and delicious brews that can be a year-round staple in my fridge. Frankly, I'm tired of the same old Pale Ale's, Browns Ales, Wheat Ales, etc that most new breweries offer in their initial line-up. Especially when those beers are no different than any of their longer established counterparts on the shelf. It gets pretty tiresome to meet a rep/owner of a new brewery who thinks that an "easy drinking, session ale" is their ticket to hitting it big in our market. Good for Two Roads to build a little buzz with slightly more exciting offerings, even if the styles might be a bit trendy. I hope they hit it out of the park.

I think it's great that we will soon have a 12 oz saison on the shelves around here. That size packaging for a saison is few and far between. Always up for trying a well brewed craft pilsner and a double IPA, so looking forward to those, too.

If only the fad of critiquing before trying would wane as quickly.

Why isn't criticism of style selection fair game?
