Doing a week long sales trip here in TX and wondering what I should look for? I'm from MA and I want to find some nice Jester King beers, Deschutes releases (Dissident? Abyss?), Pumpkinator, etc. I'm in DFW for two days then Austin, followed by San Antonio. Any tips of great stores to check out would be greatly appreciated! Cheers!
The new Deschutes releases have yet to hit Austin/San Antonio/Dallas... and Pumpkinator is going to be tough to get outside of a IP trade (if you've got any BCBS, Heady Topper, Hill Farmstead or any other wizz-bang northern beers... BM me and I might be willing to unhinge my paws from a bottle ) Jester King is all around Austin though. Shouldn't have trouble finding that if you go to any halfway decent bottle shop or liquor store (Spec's, Central Market, Whip In, etc..). I'd pay attention to the JK thread to see where their limited beers are currently dropping. You should also try to hit Austin on Saturday and hit up Jester King's tour. It's well worth the trip to south-south-OMGisthisstill Austin.
Austin - Spec's Brodie, Central Market Westgate; I'll let the locals tell you which bars to go to, but my personal top pick would be Banger's. San Antonio - Gabriel's Superstore (ask for Scott or Augie if you have questions about the beer selection), Spec's De Zavala, Central Market. I would also strongly recommend checking out Freetail. They make some amazing beers and have a handful of them available in bottles. If you want Pumpkinator, I know a store in Corpus Christi that has a ton of it. Otherwise, your best bet is an IP trade.
And I am really tired of seeing it too. I am suprised all the Divine hoarders didn't snag it all within a day like last year.
