Been drinking too much beer and neglecting my whiskey but I tried TX tonight and damn if that profile wouldn't be sick in some other TX beers aging process. It's got a nice coconut (or something tropical) with a great maple backbone.

    So what's the scuttlebutt?

Are you talking about the Firestone robertson whiskey? I had a bottle recently. Nice vanilla coming through and stupid easy drinking.

Quick edit. Not Firestone walker but Firestone robertson

It's Firestone & Robertson, not Firestone Walker. You would think that one of the enterprising new breweries around DFW would try to buy some of their barrels. But I think they're doing whiskey first, so I figure they might be reusing their barrels. Their bourbon won't be ready until 2014, so I think we might have a while before we see any barrels leaving their warehouse.

I really enjoy Rebecca Creek. Very balanced and subtle, well I guess anything would be compared to my usually which is Willett Rye. Still I enjoy it a lot. I have never had or seen TX Whiskey.

I tried to buy some barrels from a distiller in Mckenny. He said he would rather sell them to a sign maker for displays for $10 more a barrel. His mistake.

Anyone tried Yellow Rose yet? Its a new distillery out of Pinehurst(30 miles north of Houston). They have 2 styles right now, but they are damn expensive, I think like $70.

Funny you should ask. It's a beer called Okie, it's a barrel aged dark barley wine.

I was at their release party at Reserve 101 last year. It was pretty decent. Friend picked me up and drove to Spec's after hearing me talk about it. He bought a bottle for $54 for what I don't think was even a fifth? I saw a loner bottle sitting out here at Rosenberg Specs just a few days ago for $3X something and I believe it was the 2nd type you're referring too?

I typically like bourbons and rye on the rougher side, see my post above about Willett. I do really like this one, but it is rough. I have only had it twice, like you said it is pretty expensive. I am not sure if I like it enough to buy a bottle for my self though.

You and Jeff Stuffings. In a bathtub together. I open my wallet and just dump $1000 out on to both of you. In $2 bills.

But actually I lost my wallet today at Pressler and Main in the Med Center I think. Any BA's happen to find it and I'll throw you a 2012 Abyss.

Ya, the other one is a rye, not my style of bourbon.

I thought they just blended whiskey and don't do any actual barrel aging?
