I will be in Tyler, Texas for 2 weeks starting on Monday and am wondering if there are any good shops or bars in the immediate area, or if I should just look in Dallas. Thanks in advance for all the help!
Used to live there and visit every now and then. Don't know of any outstanding ones. The laws have recently changed and they can actually sell beer in the city now so that helps. The brookshires on Broadway and Shiloh had some locals but basically just year round type stuff. I know there's on guy from Tyler that chimes in every now and then but I can't think of his name so hopefully he can add some input. In general there's probably some stuff at the grocery stores but if you are looking for anything special your best bet is Dallas.
As for bars I did hear of a place called Juls that should be decent. They got some Saint Arnold Bishops Barrel 6 which was pretty limited.
For bars Jul's is your best bet, only other place would be BJ's. As far as shops go Fresh has a ok selection and here lately has been getting a few more limited offerings(just picked up a KBS today)and it's about a minute from Jul's if you go there.
They just opened a new brewery there. http://www.truevinebrewing.com/ I would say anywhere they distribute may be alright? They would have at least one local on tap then.
Haha! Someone within the company actually screwed up and I'm lucky enough that I get to go down and fix it! Also if anyone in the Dallas/FW area is interested in an IP trade take a look at my gots. Also have access to Iowa Distro. Only have a little TG left in the fridge right now.
I second the Fresh recommendation. I would also recommend Stanley's BBQ, they have True Vine and a couple other Texas beers on tap.
