Does anybody know if they will ever put out a new beer in this series again? Seems like they just keep releasing Hop ***** over and over, sprinkled with re-release of Dirty Old Man. Not bad beers, but would be nice to see somthing new, or at least put Devile Made me Do it back out.

These guys used to be really popular in the TC metro, circa 2008, now most places here have the BGW stuff on the shelves for months, and finding their regulars is really an easter egg hunt.

Also, Hop ***** is good, but I like Scurvy better.

I agree, I just dont like that every other release is Hop *****. If they are going to constatly re-release beers in this series, at least mix it up a little more!

Didn't a brewer leave Tyranena? Perhaps he was the one with all the mad porter & stout skills.

[ed] - And to the OPs point, Hop ***** and Dirty Old man are good, but yeah, I've been missing the variety of old.

They've burned through a few brewers recently, they've had some operational struggles.

This is unfortunate. 2010 and 2011 had a new BGW series beer releasing every couple of months. I haven't seen anything exciting from them all year long. The BGW series tends to have great beers for very affordable prices. I just wish they'd release Shaggin in the Wood again.

Its been an entire year since Hop ***** was out last. Im glad its back, however my first two bottles havent been that enjoyable and I loved it last year. I wish my palate could remain consistent.

Good glad Twin Cities get brewers gone wild but where I am in WI(La Crosse), we can not even get seasonals like scurvy.....

The lack of variety is rather disappointing. Maybe some of this can be explained by the seemingly constant turnover at the brewery. I still have a few bottles of Devil Over a Barrel that have held up tremendously and would love to see them release either some new varieties, or re-examine some classics.

@incutrav: With the change in our lineup of seasonal beers to Down 'N Dirty Chocolate Oatmeal Stout, Scurvy IPA, Gemuetlichkeit Oktoberfest (Wisconsin only), Painted Ladies Pumpkin Spice Ale and Sheep Shagger Scotch Ale, we have had capacity issues and have not been able to experiment as much as we might like. With the addition of fermentation capacity we hope to brew additional styles... unless we bump up against capacity restraints again (like barrel-aging space).

It was our plan to brew The Devil Made Me Do It! last year but were unable to fit it in. We are currently planning for it again this year. Should also be releasing Who's Your Daddy? (currently aging in bourbon barrels but will have limited distribution) and Benji's.

And I suspect we will always be brewing Hop ***** Imperial IPA as it is one of my favorite beers and comes during a seasonal lull in our brewing schedule.

@jjheinrichs: Assistant brewers come and go. No one with critical skills, significant operational knowledge or recipe formulation responsibilities has left the brewing side of Tyranena in over a decade.

Cant wait to see some "new" brews come out in the series, especially Devil Made Me Do It and Whose Your Daddy and Benji's. Bring on Spank Me With The Wood too, that was a nice treat at GTOM!

FWIW, i love dirty old man (more than the BB Down n dirty; the 2010 mouthfeel was WAY too thin IMO which is shocking because i love the base beer) and think its one of the best BA porters out there -- and the price is unbeatable.

Lookling forward to Who's your daddy and The Devil Made me Do it! Missed out on the BGW smoked chipotle imperial porter a few years back. Any chance it makes a comeback?

Gracias! Don't remember it being called Benji's. But I did miss it last time.

It definitely isn't as floral this year and is definitely darker. I don't think they used the same recipe really. It's malty and it's fresh. It wasn't malty after two months last year.
