I drank an old ass Hop ***** not too long ago and thought it was still pretty damn solid. I'm not the guy scoffing at month old IPAs though.

It was just a big sweet beer at a year old- not too far off from a barleywine.

Rotating stock, the new hop ***** will probably have to get in line behind the old hop ***** 4 packs. Its going to be a loooong line.

Hop ***** seems to be the slowest moving BGW, but it is an annual release. The others typically fly off the shelves and I hope to see Dirty Old Man and Whose Your Daddy soon again. My absolute favorite was Doubly Down N Even Dirtier. I sure hope it isn't 5 or 6 years before that is made again.

That pretty much nails it. Hop ***** is a solid brew, but it fades behind other Imperial IPAs and sexier BGW beers. I love Tyranena, but the amount of hop ***** still on shelves tells me that they are making a big mistake by making it again so soon.

Hate to be the bearer of great news, but Doubly Dwn is the current BGW, sir  had one on tap at the taproom last night, and it was amazing. More bourbon than DoaB and much more viscous. Absolutely delicious, hope like hell i can find bottles. Sadly, they had none on hand :slight_frown:

I may be wrong but I believe that keg is from the last time they made it last year. My favorite BGW beer as well, hoping it is back sooner rather than later!

This is correct. Rob always has kegs around of these awesome beers and brings them out from time to time at the tap room.

Damn, i was assuming the listing on the website indicated it would be bottled. i knew i should've tried to bribe a growler fill out of the bartender :stuck_out_tongue: seriously great beer though.

Has anyone seen this around NW burbs recently? Would like to give it a try.

It's been about 2 weeks, but I saw a couple 4pks at Cardinal Wines and Spirits in Crystal Lake. Not sure how far away you are, but you might want to call them first.

@BobCobb, let me know if you're unable to land some to try. There are allegedly some spots in Chicago with it on the shelves. At the least, though, I have 1 extra bottle and I'm in the NW burbs every few weeks.

Not entirely sure I agree with your assessment. Last year we brewed (to order) about 200 bbls of Hop ***** Imperial IPA. Contrast that to 60 bbls of Doubly Down 'N Even Dirtier and 20 bbls of Who's Your Daddy? Hence why our last iteration of Who's Your Daddy? was a brewery-only release.

Assessment of what? I bought Whose Your Daddy from the brewery. Doubly Down N Even Dirtier is my favorite. There is still Hop ***** on store shelves.

edit: I see, two I mentioned were brewery only and were not in stores. Will either of those be brewed again in the near future? I know it takes time to let them sit in the barrels.

Is DOAB still hanging around in Madison anywhere?

I gave up on it about a month ago after searching all over the east side stores.

Shouldn't the shops bite the bullet at this point? The packs will be a different color, so we'll be digging for the red ones.
