For any home brewers in the Northern California area, has anyone taken the brewing courses at UC Davis or looking into taking classes? I've thought about it, it would be nice to learn the science of home brewing other than YouTube, books or novelty home brewing kits. I come from a background of Biotech/Life Sciences, so I think it would be really cool from learning how to make medicine to making beer. Can anyone share some thoughts? https://extension.ucdavis.edu/areas-study/brewing
I never took the extension courses, but I took the actual ucd courses while I was an undergrad. fst003 fst102a&b. They are great and very educational. Charlie Bamforth is particularly great. Do it.
i'm wrapping up some prerequisites hoping to get into the Master Brewers Program there. heard it's pretty competitive getting in, so we'll see
I took the intro course back when Michael J Lewis was the professor, as an undergrad at UCD, around 1994. He gave most of the enology students bad grades except me because I told him I was an agronomy major.
