Well, we all know BrewDog cans some of their beer (Punk, Dead Pony, 77) but news out of Williams Bros is that they will be joining the fray in the coming months. Anyone else have any insider news on whether other independent/craft UK breweries intend to follow suit?
Interesting to hear zimbo, I suspect we'll see a few more doing so given the increasing popularity of canning over the pond
I've no insight into upcoming cans but a couple of thoughts on beer from aluminium. Now not having had beer from a can since shotgunning Bud at 16 I did try a 'Big Swell' in a tinnie now it was so hoppy it verged on menthol, with such big flavours even if that burnt coffee can flavour that used to spoil canned beer that I tried when growing up would be overpowered, but it wasn't there so have tried a few UK brews and found not a lot of difference in the standard bottled beer. Then last week I had a bottle conditioned ale where the conditioning was just so spot on, it made such an amazing beer that it made me reconsider my snubbing of cans.
What's more interesting is who actually has a canning line - Camden Town have just got one, as far as I know the first micro canning line in the UK.
Brooklyn sells Summer Ale and EIPA in cans also. Saw them at a pub the other day...actually had an EIPA for that matter. Quality was the same as bottles if not better.
