UK Weekend Beerage

Pinched the wife's MG for a run out to the Marquis of Granby at Granby. They had Brewster's Cheval Mort on, thought I'd died and woken up in Heaven.
Back through the Vale, practically no cars at all but a few horses and cycles , a perfect lunchtime.

 

yesterday I visited Kirkstall Brewery, again. So it was BYB, Pale Ale, Black Band Porter and the same again. Also had some Odell IPA & Stone Sublimely Self Righteous Ale. I think there may have been hop overkill.
Today I made do with a nice Prosecco with the barbecued Tuna Steak.

 

I've been buying the beer and other booze for my little brothers wedding reception in a couple of weeks - despite my suggestions, they settled on Heineken, Hobgoblin and Oxford gold. I'll probably just be on the whisky

 

Was at the Bat, Blue Blazer and Bow Bar yesterday with tut.
Drank Brodies Romanov, Tempest Pale Ale, Tiny Rebel Grand Regal (Jack Daniels) and a 9.2% ABV Thornbridge St Petersburg French Oak Russian Imperial Stout. Outstanding beer and a great guy but the non flashy sunny seasonally appropriate Tempest was the winner. Not that I'm ticking or rating mind.

 

Really enjoyed the JD version. The JD was was superbly well integrated at the core which gave it some more body & a restrained intensity. Like you said, there's an awful lot of stuffing in it for what it is. My Hit to miss ratio for Tiny Rebel is really really high. Best in Wales for me.

yesterday's visit to Hawkshead Beer Festival was highly enjoyable. Started with Alchemy Rhapsody Pale and worked through a few session ales in the intense heat. A couple of disappointing beers like Bristol Beer Factory Independence & Offbeat Outlandish Pale were more than compensated for by the always excellent Hawkshead beers, a couple of tasty ones from Magic Rock with Simpleton being perfect for this weather. Also sampled beers from Redemption, Liverpool Organic & Roosters and a few tasters of the bigger abv Keg beers.
Looking forward to returning in October for SIBA North West competition.

 

This weekend I'll be tearing into this lot picked up in New York through trades and purchases.
