Shonen Knife? I saw them perform that very track when they supported Nirvana.

You going to be doing your video reviews semi regularly Bevis?

And was that your cat going "Dude! WTF man?!" towards the end?

last nights beer was omitted for lack of time, it was Fullers Vintage Ale 2010, nice and it will get better. Tonight following a very nice meal out with friends I'm concluding the evening with Crafty Dan Triple C, not a shabby effort.

Isn't it about ten thousand times better than the Triple C previously released by Twaites?

No beer tonight but some lovely Blandy's Duke of Clarence Madeira, along with some Nicolas Feuillatte to accompany the prawns dad cooked up using a Floyd recipe (in the frying pan shells on with a shitload of garlic, dried chili, sherry and oil. Then a wee glass of Bunahabhain 12 yo as a night cap.

    Merry Christmas one and all!

quietly making headway in a mini pin of Thwaites Wainwright, it always reminds me of hikes up Kinder Scout, but now onto the serious stuff. Courage Imperial Russian Stout 1992, a sprightly 23 years old. Effing gorgeous.

Ah, that's a blast from the past! Bateman's Brewery once had a wine outlet called Ridlington's (which closed when Morrison's arrived) which had all four Blandy's Madeiras. They are all superb drinks in their own right from the dry Sercial through to Malmsey.
Ridlington's had an extensive cellar to which I had free access. Some wines had been there so long that they were no longer catalogued.I often came home with 1961 and 1966 clarets and Burgundies for just a few pounds each, a 1967 Clos de Vougeot cost me just £6. Happy days.I just buy Dark Lord and Victory Ale from Bateman's these days

I open this bottle of Struise Ypres
and I drink to the brave Tyrrells of our family
who fell in Belgium in the Great war,
    fighting for freedom
    in that muddy hell.
May the next life give you the peace that war took.
