Strangely Enough I thought Greene King's Christmas beer Rocking Deputy Führer
    was actually half drinkable :S

Finally tried SN porter and stout tonight, they were ok but a bit lacking in flavour and body for the abv. And the porter was a bit overcarbed. Fairly fresh bottles too.

Genuinely surprised by the ratings of them on here or at least the stout . So, so many better, and lower abv, stouts around

    opinions eh?

I thought the stout was seriously amazing. But my bottle was brought from the states by a friend so maybe there's some sort of deterioration happening in the mass shipping or something? Or they send us the shite batches.

hmm I guess my bottle wasn't at its best then. SN are normally great at getting their bottles out in great nick, I've always been impressed with how consistent their pale ale is here and torpedo too

    will try it again anyway

I don't think I've been that lucky with a lot of american bottles I've got over the years, the beer gods are trying to tell me something I think

the shop I got it from has three tiny rebel brews so I'll give them a bash too:slight_smile:

If you've had the cask prepare for disappointment :slight_frown:
If not, Urban IPA, Fubar and Hadouken are alright, but the Full Nelson is not even half as good as cask in good nick. Not tried the Dirty Stop Out bottles yet though the cask is amazing so maybe worth a shot.

And with the SN Stout, I do have a weird sense of taste. Liked Westy 12 but drain-poured Rochefort 10 :stuck_out_tongue:

I've always found both to be excellent, yes maybe a little over carbonated but the depth of flavour usually develops as the glass empties. Try them chilled and let them warm slowly as you drink them.
They are both superb when cask conditioned, and we usually have a few casks at GBBF.

I must admit all the SN bottles I've had have been average, don't get the mad props that Torpedo seems to elicit from people.

Cracking a Tilquin Gueuze. BA is really bad at updating the changing ABVs of beers. Not bad tasting though, very sharp.

Black Albert nightcap. This beer is just so perfect.

Can I raise my rating to 6/5 please?

Gawd, I just had to try Guinness Red Harvest Stout, didn't I? Smooth, perhaps, alluring? Not once I tasted it.
