You were at Larbert Hanglow? I saw that too.

All the TSA beers are very sweet, which is quite pleasant in the oat stout but a disaster in everything else.

    Bottle of Twaites Nutty Black
    a bit lacklustre

Too true. Emelisse Triple IPA/TIPA - nice but a bit meh. It's all "hops hops hops" which is nice but just reminds me of most over big ipas I've had.

First time trying Sam Adams (possibly the real life Pawtucket Patriot)
since it stopped being imported & started being brewed under licence

Sorry but there is something inherently wrong about
Boston Lager being brewed by us stinking Limeys

"Are you going to the Boston teas party?"

Speaking of old and dull, I found a couple of bottles of Brakspeare bitter I bought for my brothers wedding last year. It's held up surprsingly well considering. Still deeply average at best

Couple of decent new offerings from Tiny Rebel today, Sonic Boom a red ale, quite hoppy with a disturbingly clean finish, and the multi-yeast Belgian Blonde which knocked both Sonic Boom and NP10 (the other Belgian ale) out of the water I thought. Also a disappointing Mallinsons Nelson Sauvin, so watery and flat it was like Volvic Touch of Fruit with hops instead of strawberries.

Good whiskies while there too, Lagavulin 16 and Glenkinchie 12. Starting to prefer whisky over beer recently, to a worrying level. Must be my Scottish blood?

Watch out, the whisky road is an expensive one.

Maybe. Definitely with whisky in bars but that's a rare occurrence for me, I prefer a bottle at home. Beer is getting more and more expensive too it seems, especially with some of the new 'craft' type breweries. At least with a 70cl bottle of whisky you get 20+ drinks. And at £20-£50 per bottle that's quite a bit cheaper than £3-5 per 330ml bottle of beer. Sad times, or maybe not, as whisky's also quite a bit healthier than beer too.

Risked another pint as was there for social event rather than venue, Adnams Broadside, even this was a little lacking in the flavour department. Perhaps the ale was too cold, erhaps there was some additional H2O :grimacing:
decided that I should at least have actually enjoyed some beer that night so ran to Port Street bar & ordered two halves of what I reckoned would be the biggest flavoured beer, Celtic experience Nano Sour & Arbor's Tiny the Welder both very prominent tastes

then realised I had walked into. Wiper and Truth launch party and their beers were free

    Doh!

got a free Simcoe pale ale
