Off to Cambridge Beer Festival tomorrow night and then Tap East Saturday so it's looking like a good weekend for brews!

Did well today , at the nearest pub to my house I had Timothy Taylor's Ram Tam , Potbelly brewery's Beijing Black and Sarah Hughes Rich dark Ruby. Lovely to get these beers , what a change from those dreary golden ales which all taste the same.

Slipped into my local this evening, had a pint of Adnam's Broadside , its usual excellent self and followed this with a pint of Rooster's Fort Smith. Pleasant enough but why do all those US inspired beers all taste the same?

I saw bottles of that in a shop but they were already five months old so I didn't bother. Had the fresher Pale Ale which was very nice but I didn’t think it was any better than a decent Pils either.

Yorkshire Heart's Lightheart Pale Ale - decent and traditional.

The brewery is based in a vineyard between York and Harrogate, and holds a special significance for me as my sister's wedding reception was held there last year....

Slipped into the Horse Chestnut for a sneaky one (for one read two!)
First was Pheasantry Brewery's Lincoln Tank Ale, at 4.2% ABV a beautifully balanced good old fashioned bitter. Then to the Ram Tam which was on gravity and still as a mountain lake. Not a trace of any head. But just an utterly and completely superb pint.It went down singing hymns with chorus and descant.

More reduced to clear ale - Dragonfire
Obviously brewed for St. Georges day
    so lets celebrate Englishness
Standing in a queue, tutting, complaining the weather is too cold/wet/hot/dry/temperate
and that epitome of Englishness lacklustre clear bottled pale ales
    tastes like aspirin :slight_frown:

Quite a few over the weekend seeing as it was a beer festival and a bank holiday

Started off at the Cambridge beer festival drinking 3rds, Adnams Fat Sprat. Not great! Then a Grain Porter, Son Of Sid Cherry Chocolate Stout, Black Bar Museum Old Ale, Bexar County Black Eye, Kissingate Gardinia Mild, Great Heck Black Jesus, Hop Studio York, Moonshine Red Watch Blueberry Ale, Portobello Market Porter.

Wetherspoons for some lunch the next day unfortunately, but tried all the Sixpoint cans, Bengali Tiger, The Crisp and Sweet Action. Recommend!

Finished off the Sunday and Monday with some good old Duvel. Visited Beers of Europe during the day on Saturday so we bought a lot of beers and spent way too much but had Founders All Day IPA, Founders Dry Hopped Pale Ale, Sierra Nevada Torpedo, Sierra Nevada Beer Camp #93, Sierra Nevada Ruthless Rye, Stone Ruination IPA.

Quite an alcoholic weekend, think I'll take a rest next week :stuck_out_tongue:

In the face of those dodgy election results I'm having a Euro-fest, with a Spanish Xavier Er Boquerón - a decent, refreshing offering made with sea water, and the Belgian Fantôme Saison - i can see what all the fuss is about now, bloody brilliant.

Now to try and resist cracking open the kegs of Schlenkerla Smoked Marzen, which I had delivered from Germany customs duty free because we're in the EU, woo!
