I found an old bit of DTP I did when rediscovering my love of beer a couple of years ago

SN Pale Ale, it brought me back to beer drinking

It's great as the Tap House is literally opposite the entrance to the Millenium Stadium (where the "WAles" Camra beer festival is, over the same time period) (plus Brewdog Cardiff is next door)

It was horrendous, nothing like the 60min. It only confirmed my view that 'old school' cask breweries mostly haven't got their heads around this whole new craft beer revival and that 'colabs' rarely produce much of distinction. There could not be more of a contrast to that bottle of 120 min I had earlier in the year either.

But a bottle of Harviestoun Engineer's Rerserve made up for it.

I was exactly the same a couple of years back. What a great beer!

I agree, I had a bottle of 60 min and 90 min last time I was in the states and this just did not compare at all. It's a shame and also confusing why it's still being sold in the shops. Making 60 Min, reducing it and sending it over here is a waste for such a disappointing beer. They could just be using it to make 60 min over there!

I grabbed it of the shelf without reading the blurb

I thought that Wells were going to be given the 60 mins ingredients then brew it over here
I know Sam Adams brewed by Shep Neame hasn't worked out all that great but I thought with a bigger tasting beer + a better UK brewery, better results would occur.
With whats happened with our DNA, it's utterly pointless, the beer has less flavour than most UK macro lager.

I'd just returned from a holiday in California, think I was in one of those fancy Browns cocktail bars and saw "Sierra Nevada Pale Ale - Chico, CA" Drinking Firestone in San Luis Obispo and not really knowing what it was (it was the only thing apart from Bud Light and American Spirit Mesurments are a little too generous in some places!) I thought why not?! Ever since then, I haven't looked back!

I thought it would be something similar, or a blend of the two beers which would've been cool. I was imagining a biscuity malty backbone from the wells and the citrusy hop kick from the 60 Min which would've been awesome but instead it's terrible. Like you said, worse than a Macro!

Yesterday caught the bus to Bingham and called in at our POTY , the White Lion , for an excellent pint of Bombardier Burning Gold. Always regard Bombardier as underrated , perhaps because it's everywhere. The Gold version is rather nice too. On to the Horse and Plough for a pint of Belvoir Star Bitter, the stuff I grew up with. I though I had died and woken up in Heaven. Crisp, dry and challengingly bitter it'a an absolute gem. Next to the Spoon's , settled for Adnam's Broadside in excellent nick for £1.70 a pint.
Lovely day today so negotiated with my wife to take her MG into the Vale.Called in at the Nag's Head in Harby-recently it changed landlords and the pub has changed from forgettable to memorable. It's amazing how much difference the people on the other side of the bar make to a pub. It's one of the oldest buildings in the area and has masses of character.
The only downside is that it's a Marston's pub so choice is limited. Began with Ringwood Boondoggle which I quite enjoyed.I was apprehensive when I saw it was yet another pale golden beer but thankfully it wasn't a grapefruit juice clone. Nicely balanced, good structure and well brewed. Next was Wychwood's Piledriver, a touch darker , pleasant enough but didn't go down singing hymns.

Just had another Schlenkerla Helles Lagerbier with an outstanding Indian. Think it'll be one of my rarer big stouts up next. But which one...?
