Just had a mouthful of the Buxton Rain Shadow...WOW!!! Dark, smokey, hint of liquorice and a sweet background. Said it before and I'll say it again, never had a bad Buxton beer.

Loved the rain shadow last year, and the double axe. Although was a bit surprised to see the abv reduced from 13.6 and 11.8 to both at 10 with the new releases.

No worries mate, thanks for looking! As it happens, I picked some up on Eebria thanks to @Georgefox, along with a few others. Looking forward to that delivery!

    Who's your team??

Did you go to the new Bavaria Brauhaus for the first three? Any good if so? I've not been yet

Did anyone see the "dark beer" tasting on today's Sunday Brunch?

    The three beers were:

    A 3.8% stout (I didn't catch the name)

    Siren Mrs Brown

    Brewdog Black Eyed Imp King

The guests were Bill Bailey and Danny Dyer, I often think these tastings are wasted on people who don't know what they're drinking, but it was pretty funny how Danny Dyer was downing the beers.

Yes, well spotted. Nice bar, decent choice of beer and food, but the oompah music was annoying.
Left there and went to The State Bar, Bon Accord, West on The Corner and The Lansdowne Bar.

Oakham's Car Thief. Very good indeed. One of those black IPAs, ie. a dark bitter.

I went there myself last year and loved the brewery under the windmill. Even the tour guide of our bicycle trip took us there. Is this the collaboration with Thornbridge ?

Not sure mate, hang on I'll check the bottle...yes, it is.

Yeah, been to the brewery twice, got the 5 beer tasting tray and the barman said he was feeling generous so gave me 6 beers instead of 5...result.

    Rat Brewery - Black Death
    Dukeries - Lime Tree Porter
Coach House Brewing - Gunpowder Premium Mild
    Bank Top - Port O'Call

The Borough Brewery - Wintertime Dark
    Young's - London Stout
    York Brewery - Ghost Ale
    York Brewery - Oh Vienna
    Bowland Brewery - Winter
    Fuzzy Duck - Mucky Duck
The Three Mariners - Mariner's Gold
    Thornbridge - Kipling
    Anarchy Brew - Smoke Bomb
    Dancing Duck - Abduction
    Warwickshire beer - Mo' Brew

Gunpowder mild and Port O'Call were highlights.

Picking up points, but not very attractive to watch unfortunately. Played better on Friday in our Derby and happy (eventually) with the point.

That looks like a fantastic collection of beer and probably only had 2 of those.

Making the Christmas pudding so had Woodforde's Norfolk Nip, Adnams Tally Ho and Harvey's Christmas Ale. Most of the Tally Ho went into the pudding along with half a wine glass of whisky.

Now onto darkstar hophead. It's good but I think I have been spoiled by too many jarls at the same strength.

tastes like a lime wine gum with not enough sugar & slightly soapy
    It is a bit thin
It's really good for a Gluten free beer
    but as a pale ale
just ever so slightly better than supermarket fare
