I feel ripped off with the Caribbean chocolate cake. It was in port street beer house and price in the booklet was £7. When ordered and opened was then told £15. Great beer but not worth that much for 330ml.

    Was works Christmas party
they actually had 'Craft' hardly the best tho, Meantime Pale
tho to me, it seemed like their IPA watered down
vast improvement however on last year, Black Sheep Ale
& the year before FuthaMucking Peroni (funnily enough in the same place as this year)

Just came across a late bottle of kbs, pretty happy with that, didn't expect to see it again until next year!

Anybody else ordered from Northern Monk before? Going to vent about my own experience here to avoid some poor customer service agent ending up getting the barrage of abuse I can feel building up inside me.

Ordered 2 bottles last Monday and still waiting on delivery (it took them almost a week just to send it off) and now according to the MyHermes tracker it's been "out for delivery" since Thursday at 5am., which makes this day 3 of waiting in for the delivery. Their live assistance is absolutely useless too, as is the brewery itself when you try to contact them.

Not had a drink all week as we had a big job to finish, got it done this morning.

Went Xmas shopping in Stirling with Mrs. Kozel, got fed up within an hour (or she got fed up with me) when she turned and said "look, just go to the new Brewdog and I'll get you there when I'm done", that's why we've been together for 27 years.:grinning:, had...

Brewdog - Nitro Milk Stout, lovely smooth stout,
Brewdog - Black IPA, typical IPA flavours, very nice,
Mikkeller - Green Gold, easily the best of the 3 beers I had, subtle hops and caramel notes.

    Bought to take away,
De Dochter van de Korenarr - Embrasse,
    2 x Prototype Milk Stout,
    Ayinger - Celebrator,
    Ayinger - Dunkel,
    Stone - Saison.

Total cost for 6 bottles to take away £16, that's about 40 - 50% cheaper than my local bottle shop, tho' I suspect the nice chap behind the bar has made a mistake.

Had a few of the beers and not had a bad one...yet!!!

Stone - Saison was like a spicy or peppery Duvel, lovely,
Bothe the Ayingers tasted like they were brewed by Kraftwerk...fantastische, according to Mrs. K who teaches primary German.
De Dochter was strange...quite bitter taste initially, but it was obvious from the first mouthful that it was a full bodied Belgian and 9%.

I suspect this is the precise reason the Westfield Centre in Stratford has its own brewpub. Sort of like a grown-up creche for husbands.

What are you going to play to improve that particular train wreck of a beer?

I've already recommended to Northern Monk that they switch.
When I got through to the myhermes webhelp (after 75 minutes) they asked me for the size, weight and description of the appearance of the package (information I don't know obviously) so now it's been referred to the "investigations team". Sigh. I want my Opeth stout!

I'm absolutely loving black jack deer hunter coffee saison, had it twice in bottle now and does not disappoint!

Suspect he has omitted a 1 from the front !! Costs about £4 for a small bottle of Punk at my local to take away. You can go around the corner to Sainsburys and get a larger growler for £2.50. Nice Xmas treat there. Enjoy.

Yep, the last time they delivered to me they threw the package over my wall into the back garden !! Hopefully your beer won't end up the same way.

Drowning my delivery related sorrows with the new batch of homebrew stout. Burnt barley in this one so it's got a lovely full bitter-burnt flavour.

I am in the lakes now. So far have had Jennings Cumberland Cream ale as it's the only ale on tap at the hotel. It's not the worst keg bitter I've ever had. Also had Jennings Cocker hoop -as meh as it was last time I had it - and sneck lifter which is interesting enough. Went to Hawkshead brewery today, had Brodies Prime, Cumberland five hop both as solid as ever and Great White which tasted of a gin and tonic. Not so sure about that one. Food was good there and I've realised it's probably easy to visit again as a day trip as it's quite easy to get to by train from Glasgow. Some time in the new year maybe
