    A mate's birthday resulted in:

    - Rooster's Londonium porter
    - Robinson's Old Tom
    - Thornbridge Jaipur X
    - Tempest In The Dark We Live
    - Edge Brewery Juggernaut
    - Fuller's Vintage Ale 2015
    - Magic Rock Bearded Lady
    - Westvleteren XII

One of the best nights of beer I've ever had. Who's birthday's next?!

Henry Rollins is 54 tomorrow but that's more of a session in the gym than a session on the ale.

Got the job I went to interview for yesterday (same seasonal as the same time last year) so celebrating with:
Park Brewery Spanker IPA - quite nice but as an American IPA the malt does overpower the resinous hops a bit. That said it was a decent brew.
Big Hug Hibernation White IPA - half IPA half weizen and it takes the best from both. Full and luscious, soft, fresh and mellow. Good hop presence and nice banana yeastiness.
White Hag Beann Gulban Irish heather sour Ale - pretty nice, light and very similar to red wine elegantly turning into vinegar. Soft, fruity, with a big sharp bite of citrus acid on the finish.

Haha thanks, and is that not the reason for employment in the first place?!

Just returned from a nice trip to Rome :

    Rurale 3 degree Migli
    Vento Forte Pale Ale
    Hammer Black Queen, Bulk, Riverside
    Extraomnes Yanqui, Wilde
    Emiliano Rihassta di Paro
    Brewdog Baby Dogma
    Lariano Madiba Imperial
    Open Baladin Xyauyu Barrel 2011
    Bierra del Borgo Enkir
    Pontino Olim Palus
    Hostrofficina Tenango Stout

Best beer was the Lariano Madiba Imperial, a bottle from Domus Birrae. Jewel in the bars was Ma Che Siete Venuti A Fà, a fantastic place like Fermonteren in Copenhagen. Selection, staff and environment spot on.

Just home from an overnight stay in Edinburgh. Mostly half or third pints of,

    Weird Beard - Milk Stout,
    Ushers - Mint Choc Stout,
De Molen - Rasputin Imperial Stout,
Weird Beard - Duke & Dank,
    Wild Beer - Epic Saison,
    Tempest - Long White Cloud,
    Tempest - Smoked Red Rye,
    Arbor - Gingerbread Saison,
    Wild Beer - Milk Stout,
    Stewart - Hopricot,
    Pilot - Mochaccino Stout,
    Magic Rock - Ginspired,
Wild Berr - Hibernating Lemons Saison.

De Molen - Rasputin was easily the outstanding beer, 11.4%, dark fruits, slightly smokey, tasted like a combination of old style rum butter caramels and pineapple chunks, fantastic.
Mentions also for Mochaccino Stout, Smoked Red Rye, Gingerbread Saison & Mint Choc Stout.

Beer Club Belfast was an all Cloudwater affair, and very nice they were too.

Having a bottle of Drygate Forelsket session IPA. Not bad at all and pleasing getting this from Aldi. It's brewed on their studio kit, according to the bottle at least

It's strange how ugly this beer looks though compared to a Hefewiezen that is of course also cloudy. I think the lack of a good head that lasts is the problem

7 Peaks now, also Drygate. Good as well, another bottle conditioned one from Aldi. I've drunk this before from cask and think it suits that a bit better. Got some Lagunitas IPA for afters

Just some homebrew with fish and chips tonight. My Dad's cloned London Pride so accurately that it even has that thick soapiness you get with cask Pride. Hoping I'll get used to it because currently I'm not a huge fan.

I had a decent selection of beers last night. I started with Stone Xocoveza stout, Pressure Drop Syd Strong's, and a BrewDog Bourbon Baby. I think the Xocoveza was my favourite.

Have to agree with Hanglow about the range of beer we have in Scottish Aldi's. 2 Tempest, 2/3 Drygate, 6/7 Williams Bros. all for under £2, win win as far as I'm concerned.

I'm a bit jealous of that. I can't find much of anything for less than £2 in Central London. I'm on the hunt for Williams Bros Kelp Stout. It sounds really interesting. Anyone had it?

I've had the Dark Star Imperial tonight as well as a Five Points Railway Porter. I am getting some boozy notes from the Imperial in addition to some wood, but it was bottle conditioned, very interesting.

Is that the Kelpie? Here's what I thought 5 (fuck me, 5?!) years ago, please excuse the noobie reviewing, I was 18 at the time.

"Pours a thick black colour like a stout with an off white head with awesome lacing.

It has an unusual smell which reminds me of the sea actually, so I assume it is the kelp, quite nice.

Tastes very nice, the seaweed again is overriding which is good because it tastes immense, and seems pretty well balanced too.

Overall a very nice beer, would make a decent session beer."

Ebulum and Fraoch were nice too.

I am trying to secure some KBS for myself. I have my brother on advanced alert of KBS day and am hoping a couple will be flying my way when family comes to visit in April. Fingers crossed.
