    They are usually good

Having a Double Joker from Williams Bros to round the night off after a hombrewed strong brown ale

oooh that was the 7000th reply to this thread

Just polishing off the double joker and it got progressively better as I drank it . not really enough aroma for a DIPA I think but a good beer

Tonight's Belgian highlights include orval, tripel karmeliet and hoegaaaden.

Agree, had some fine beers from Fallen including Platform C, Grapevine and Salted Caramel Chew Chew, but that Chilli one was just wrong.

    Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout 2015
    Pampus Blinck
    Founders Rubaeus
    Founders Centennial IPA
    Sadlers Mud City Stout

Stand out was the Black Chocolate Stout, a very well balanced imperial. Pampus very drinkable hoppy Dutch APA. Rubaeus interesting easy drinking fruit ale.

The Caribbean connection is the specially imported Dominican Cacao nibs they use.

Got an email from Ales by Mail saying that you can save the £6.99 shipping with the code FEB29 (As long as you spend at least £29 on the beer itself). Very tempting but I need to be frugal until I start work!

I stopped by Old Truman Brewery today to get my Craft Beer Week wristband. Sharp's was already pouring pints and I had the Jetstream Tropical IPA. It's made with pineapple and I found it quite tasty. It was very smooth and could taste the pineapple and was not a hop bomb, perfect for me.

Typical, that week looks really good but it's just 2 weeks before I move to London. Like the Bristol Beer Week I really like the idea of these events spanning across lots of venues and quite a few days.

Consoling myself with a Sierra Nevada Torpedo IPA from M&S. Noticed it has on the label that it's being imported by Fullers, which is a nice touch. I always enjoyed the occasional pint of SNPA on tap when I saw it at their pubs. Interesting too, with all this talk on freshness, to see Jeff Pickthall recommend cellaring Torpredo for 6 months.

SN beers hold up a bit better than most imo, they have put a huge amount of work/$$$ into their bottling lines and supply chains. Plus they bottle condition some of them which always helps, although I'm not sure if torpedo is

Yeah it's conditioned, and they also ship their beers in refrigerated containers so like you say, there's little spoilage. I think it's especially important because like I was reading for Californian wines, when shipping the stuff mostly has to get to the Atlantic via the Panama canal and all that tropical heat. For what it's worth too, my bottles have a September '16 BBD which I'm guessing means it was probably bottled in September '15.

My computer has shuffled of this mortal coil so having to update on phone which is pain in arse
    There has been beer
Picked up for later St. Austell Big Job, a double Cornish IPA
on the upside it's 7.2% and it's not a clear glass bottle
but it's not bottle conditioned like Proper Job and for the same price in Tesco you can get Torpedo
    We will see
    For now Backyard Brewhouse IPA
this HTML class. Value is Mid way between UK a US IPA
Not big flavours but some subtle nuances

I'm sitting at Old Red Crow next to the beautiful Smithfield Market drinking a Beavertown Double Chin and its brilliant. This may replace Lord Smog as my favourite BTown beer.

    Dark beer lunch;
    Burning Sky Monolith
    Redchurch Hoxton Stout
    Oscar Blues Death By Coconut.

Certainly in no hurry to drink the DBC again, sickly sweet, no beer flavour. If I want Coconut & Chocolate I'll stick to a Bounty Bar (Dark Chocolate of course).
    The Monolith is absolutely stunning.

Ah! Thanks for clearing that up, was genuinely expecting some kind of rum background flavour.

Heading to Edinburgh this afternoon/evening for the football, hopefully try a few new beers.

lol my local bottle shop contacted me to see if I wanted Double Chin, Spresso and the Dr Jeckyll and Mr Hyde pack. Of course I did and count my lucky stars how well I am looked after

See this is why us normies hardly ever get them. This and the people who buy 4 of each. Still, I'd rather miss out than succumb to this chasing aspect of US beer culture.
