Didn't have a lot to drink tonight as we're heading to Celtic Park at 9.15 tomorrow for a 12.00 kick-off, had

Theakstons - Distillers Cask Range, Finest Marsham Ale, actually really liked this, despite it being in a clear bottle,
Leffe - Brune, not sure what to say about this...sure we've all tried it,
An Teallach - Crofters Pale Ale, not a pale ale and not really a nice beer. I rarely leave or don't finish a beer, but I left half of this one...rank.

Stuck with some classics from bargain booze tonight, Oakham citra, titanic plum porter and innis and gunn rum cask.

De Molen Bloed, Zweet & Tranen
De Natte Gijt Hop Met de Gijt
    Sadlers Hop Bomb

Exploration of Dutch brews continues. De Molen usual standards and De Natte Gijt nice APA. Local bottle store just had a delivery of some Stone beers so have Ruination 2.0 and Xocoveza to sample.

A bottle of Marston's Amber Ale from Morrisons. Surprisingly sound with nice subtle fruity notes.

Was also at the takeover. Enjoyed Dark Penance, Azacca IPA, Mosaic Promise, Pale Joe, Oatmeal Stout Nitro, a whole pint (best decision of the night) of Backwoods Bastard, and Spectra Trifecta. Interestingly, I really enjoyed the Spectra. I found the chamomile+ginger to give it a tea-like feel and the kolsch straw-ness and lemon carried well.

Also as a heads up for the future. They have a keg of KBS awaiting tapping but they didn't tap it for Founders takeover for some reason.

That would put me on the floor in itself !! I was chatting to a bunch of US brewers in Brewdog, Rome a few weeks back and one of them said it was even hard to get in US with even them only getting an occasional case. KBS probably harder. Their porter is one of my best brews. Where was the takeover by the way ?

Yeah it was nice to see some Founders love for this US expat.

Tapped in Leeds city centre. Some excellent pizza too

I'm a US expat too, and I was very happy to see Founders at Craft Beer Rising, I even got a bottle of Backwoods Bastard which is nearly impossible to find in the US these days. Dirty Bastard remains one of my favourite beers.

Haha, you guys are making me regret ignoring all those bottles of Backwoods Bastard I used to see in my local bottle shop in Cardiff. I gave up on Founders (and indeed all American beers) after having some relatively unimpressive Breakfast and Imperial Stout.

Thought I'd try the Steinhauser lager from aldi, £3.99 for 8 bottles. And you know what, it's not to bad. Reasonably dry finish and some decent bitterness in the middle with a bit of peppery hops . Probably the best cheapo lager I've had, certainly a good step up from french stubbies and much better than pishwater like carling etc.

    Pißwasser?

Just a bottle of Landlord tonight as I fancied it after seeing it in Martyn Cornell's book. Very nice as per usual but I can imagine it being much improved on cask. Still, nice for £1.60-ish in sainsburys.

Now onto McEwans Champion. Not had this since Charles Wells took over McEwans and oh dear it has gone down hill a bit. Rather odd drink. Never the best to begin with but was a decent Edinburgh ale

Stopped in at Tap East today:
    Anchor Winter Weizen
    Moor So'Hop
    La Trappe Puur
    Vocation Pride & Joy
Vocation Chop & Change Pacific Jade

No real highlights though the Pride & Joy and So'Hop were very decent pale ales. The Chpp and Change Pacific Jade was pretty bad, with a horrible spicy chemical flavour.

I went to a cloudwater Spring launch at port street beer house last night. Enjoyed a citra ipa and lapsang lichtenhainer, smokey tea rauchbier. Also had a half each side by side of the imperial stout on cask (10.1%) and keg (11.2%) and the cask was clearly the more enjoyable, at half the price as well - £3 a half as opposed to £6!

A couple of bottles of fairly big stout tonight
I've got Thornbridge' Elon, okay I've said TB do a barely above average bottle
but it's an 8% Bourbon Oak Imperial stout
the ball is on the penalty spot and the goal keeper is in row z tucking into 4 pies, 3 hotdogs and 2 icecream
    Surely even Thornbridge can't miss
Also never had De Molen's Rasputin
    Still a heavyweight 10.4%
