The release of the Wychwood King Star kind of makes a mockery of their former advertising campaign:

What's the matter lager boy....Scared you might taste something?

lol, maybe wouldn't have gone that far, but was unimpressed by this.

Having a few Mr. President from Tesco tonight, got to attend Mrs. K's school fayre tomorrow...oh joy!!!

Yeah I thought that when I rated it on this site

I really didn't like the taste, was plasticky, burnt and the grapefruit tasted fake. I like Mr President though, its a good beer

Now onto some homebrew that's only been bottled just over a week. It's rather good if I do say so myself

That's hilarious, especially as the branding screams BMC style adjunct Lager. Even the name makes it sound like the Lone Star version of special brew. I wonder if they're still putting out the Lager boy ads too.

I bought a Holy Hoppin Hell this evening. I have had Suspect Device and Domino topple. If I see domino topple in a bottle again, I'm going to grab a couple. Suspect device was decent for me, but I think recent favourites are Tiny Rebel Hadouken and Cloudwater DIPA v3.

Just got home from a trip to Beavertown. I was able to have Peacher Man. I enjoyed it, but didn't get as much peach as I was hoping for. I also had Holy Cowbell for the first time and it was average. Finally, I had the Lupuloids Delta Unda which was pretty solid. Perhaps I should have tried all 3 Lupuloids instead for comparrison, but it was nice.

Attended the school fayre, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. We went to Brewdog Stirling afterwards and I had a pint of Beavertown - Gamma Ray, really nice and only £4.35 a pint. Also bought to take away...

Mikkeller - Swarzbier - mild coffee, slight bitterness, enjoyed it,
Anspach & Hobday - The Cream Ale - sweet, vanilla, creamy mouthfeel, strange but in a good way,
Buxton - Patersbier - Belgian style beer, like a mild, smokey Duvel, still never had a bad Buxton,
To Ol - Berry White, blueberry/blackberry sour, sharp, sour, ok,
Cloudwater - DIPA v3 - up there with the best DIPA's, excellent.

    Zywiec 1881 Porter
    Pinta Modern Drinking

Last of my Polish collection. Zywiec miles away from their lager seen in the local Polish sklep shops. Very nice Baltic Porter. Pinta really nice well balanced APA. Will be putting another order in for Polish brews later in the week. Na zdrowie!

Went to two taptakeovers in London this weekend...both American breweries. Bagby at the Bottle Shop in Bermondsey and Hoppin Frog at Craft Beer Co Covent Garden. Had way too many to list, but the standouts: Bagby Dork Squad, Bagby Dinkus, Hoppin Frog Barrel Aged Double Pumpkin, and Hoppin Frog Barrel Aged Shandy.

Also, found Founders KBS just sitting on the shelf yesterday...blew my mind as an American expat that is used to having to queue for a singular bottle with store allocations gone in an hour or two.

Yeah they have that KBS at Real Ale in Twickenham. Worth the £7-odd?

If you get chance, Rat Brewery's DIPA offering. For the name, if nothing else.

Hardknott Intergalactic Space Hopper, really looked forward to this.

Dull as shit. There must be another bottle out there with twice the fuckton of hops that were promised in this one. I reckon they forgot to stir it before bottling.

Had that one last night. Refreshing but not a quality brew.

Couldn't bring myself to fork over £7 for a kbs so ended up bringing back 4 more reasonably priced beers from Real Ale.
Magic Rock Clown Juice - heard mixed things
Gipsy Hill Drifter - heard good things
Dark Star Crème brulee - impulse buy
Pressure Drop / Nanban Nanban Kanpai - the dude in the shop said it's very good, one of the few IPAs that actually utilises yuzu really well

I was lucky enough to have a 4 pack of KBS delivered when family visited from Wisconsin, in April. It's a great beer in my opinion, but at £7 each I'm not sure I could pull the trigger either.

Picked up some Tempest Farmhouse Ale and Broughton Hopopotamus from Aldi today while doing the shopping. I see Broughton have had a branding makeover, they were bought a while ago

A whilst back I tweeted Aldi
Saying how even the seasonal lines in England stores are now dull and repetitive
& how great the Scottish specials are amazing
    Got no reply
But in special buys pamphlet there's the Aldi beer festival
Let me put it this way
Robinson's Unicorn is one of the beers

Saw on the Valhalla's Goat twitter page that they had a limited amount of KBS in stock. Jumped in my car and made the 52 mile round trip to buy some, along with a few others.

Just had one and have to admit that it was totally worth the £8 a bottle.

Rich, dark chocolate and coffee, hint of vanilla and a real hit of bourbon and alcohol at the back of the throat. To be honest, I spent more on beers of much less quality in Copenhagen last month. Have also shared with the gaffer...

Magic Rock - Cannonball, lovely refreshing, citrus IPA,
Parallel 49 - Salted Caramel Scotch Ale, typical Scotch Ale style with a mild caramel background.
