Thornbridge were doing tap takeovers at the Font Bars around Manchester last night so I went to the Fallowfield one. The best I had was their new breakfast stout, Fika. Also had a Schlenkerla Marzen in a bottle, noticed it was best before Feb 16 but still tasted good, smoky.

Weihenstephaner - 1516 Unfiltered Hellerbeir, lovely, smooth beer, similar to Tank Urquell,
De Molen - Heksen & Trollen, like a cross between a hefeweisse and an IPA...really liked,
Stone - Americano Stout, Imperial Stout with a real espresso hit. This actually had a certain chemical smell and an a Lavazza coffee flavour of a stout I made last year...can't believe I made a beer as good as a Stone beer...absolutely delighted with that.:grinning:

    Gulden Draak 9000 Quad...fantastic.

I must admit I hated Brussels when I was there 18 months ago, but I still love Belgian beers.

    Kingpin Turbo Geezer Stout
    Arbor Yakima Valley

Kingpin was a lovely coffee based high ABV stout. Had one of my best DIPA's, rye IPA'S and now coffee based stouts from Poland recently.

Went to the free open day at the Liberation Brewery (first in 15 years) here in Jersey- to celebrate 145 years of operation & the Queens 90th birthday.
Sample of the 5 year old 140 comm. ale to start us off on the tour, a dark ruby ale, which was 7%, 5 years ago. Drinkable in small amounts after this time. I had a 750ml bottle given to me a few years ago and it was very good.
Quick tour of the brewery before been given a beer token for the busy beer tent with a choice of 10 on tap.
My choice was Monarch, 4.2%, brewed in celebration of the Queens 90th, a big disappointment frankly mostly very flat and lifeless. I didn't finish it.
My next choice was much better- the Liberation 145, a 5.4% Double IPA
That I finished, and could easily have had a second.
All in all it was a decent day with a live band adding to the ambiance.

So we are in Carsington and would like to find a good craft beer shop close by. The two closest towns are Ashburn and Wirksworth. Anyone have any recommendations or guidance elsewhere? Thanks!

    Box Steam Wet Your Whistle
Touted by some as one of the better Aldi beer festival bottles
IMHO There is a bitter finish but everything else is so bloody watery

Typical strong belgian, sweet, dry, spicy and boozy. Good but really only a beer I'd drink every once in a while

Stone Americano stout. I'm a sucker for coffee beers.

Oh yeah, me too. Have you tried Siren Broken Dreams or Beavertown Spresso? Spresso is probably pretty hard to find at this point, but it was incredible.

Down to one decent beer in house
    Feullien Saison
So made it a beer partner by pouring can of
    Carlsberg/Sainsbury's Parkin bitter
& added Bottle green raspberry & grapefruit cordial
Tastes like a fairly decent if overly sweet rye beer

Found a bottle of Robinson's Old Tom on the beer shelf that I forgot was there (dated March 16).

Need to get a couple more of these as I almost forgot how nice this is!
