Did any of you guys make it to BeerKat Pub for the recent brewery take overs? I have made it to all of them so far, and I really like the concept. With Beavertown, Siren, the Bristol Trio in the books and Tiny Rebel starting Thursday... Wondering if anyone else has been or has an opinion?

I am heading there for Tiny Rebel as well. I'm hoping for some Stay Puft, Hadouken, and that tropical IPA (name escapes me). I am thinking about popping up Friday evening. I believe Tiny Rebel is taking over Craft Beer Covent Garden for "beer city week" or whatever that week before LCBF is branded.

I think it's a very unique pub and they have done a good job turning it over so quickly, especially with all the work they do with signage and branding. I hope they can continue to do takeovers or open it full time as a craft pub.

Clwb Tropicana. I was in Brewer's Droop, Bristol yesterday and the guy recommended it to try. Stands on it's own he said. Also managed to pick up a bottle of Anchor Old Foghorn, Wiper and True All the Colours of the Dark (just tried a bottle of Pink Peppercorns which is a delicious porter) and Schneider Weisse Tap X Marias Rendezvous. I like the sound of these types of takeovers and knew about the Bristol Trio. Would no doubt do well here as well.

    Blue Bee Brewery Tempest Stout
    Electric Bear RIPA

RIPA was a great IPA on keg, more black than red but hit all the right notes. Hoping to get over to their taphouse in Bath very soon. Visited OddBins in Clifton, Bristol, more in hope than expectation, regarded as the most expensive area of Bristol, but they had the Siren core range at a tiny bit lower than the breweries on line shop so hoovered up a few bottles. Not sure if that is across the UK ?

The opening tap list for BeerKat has been posted. It looks really nice and has almost everything I was hoping for.

Just heard that Wild Beer Co. are opening a bar in Bristol pretty soon.

Managed to bag a couple of bottles of Arbor/Left Handed Giant Flat White Coffee Imperial Milk Stouts. If they are as good as the last 2 well worth finding.

So I got back from Copenhagen this afternoon so as promised here are the highlights of my trip!

Oslo - Extraordinarily expensive, especially for bottled beer. When we first arrived could only find macro brand pale and pilsners (like Ringnes, and Frydenland) but I did pick up a Murphy's stout which I've not seen on draft before.

Then we started to seek out the better stuff and found some places with Nogne O and Aegir IPA's and Nogne O Porter 500ml bottle which cost about £15.

The following afternoon we found the Amundsen bar an I had a grapefruit saison there which was quite tasty. They had a big range of bottled beers from Norway, Belgium, UK and USA but at a huge premium. I'm talking over £10 for Magic Rock and Beavertown cans for instance and over £20 for anything strong. I settled for a bottle of Norse porter from Haandbryggeriet which was pretty great and an oat IPA from Lervig which was decent.

A visit to the Vinmonopolet had more modest beer prices but still expensive. Picked up 2 double IPA's and an imperial stout from Nogne O. Brought those back home.

Had 2 more ervig beers before leaving Oslo, 3 bean stout and rye IPA.

Stockholm - almost as expensive but draft beer tended to come in shorter measures which made drinking out a bit more affordable.

Dissapointed to find the Monk's porter house beer cellar was closed for the summer but the wine bar was open which had a few beers on tap so had their APA which was nice.

Omnipollo's Hatt, great atmosphere, had great weather also. Although being summer they almost exclusively had light beers on tap so I had a Viktor IPA and pineapple gose. Did also try a beer from Tired Hands, Tony Veccio. Great stout. Little disappointed at the lack of bottled beers here but nevermind.

headed on to Brewdog Sodermalm as was in the area. Typical for a Brewdog bar. Had Jack Hammer and Bourbon Baby.

The following day we got hit by rain but found this cool little bar by the canal with Swedish craft beer the best of which was a bourbon barrel aged barley wine from Nyanshamns

Later we went in Akkurat which did have some English cask ales but they also had Cantillon Kriek on tap so I had that and their house amber lager. They had plenty of Cantillon bottles also, again at a high price.

I did have a Swedish cask ale the next day from Gotlands which was quiet nice, a pale ale.

That evening found a few bars with decent US beers on. I had two from Ballast Point - Grunion and Pineapple Scupin and a Duvel br so I had Maredsous Brune on tap.

Was surprised at the prices at the Systembolagets, better than in Oslo. IN fact some bottles we picked up were cheaper than they are here - Mikkeller Spontancassis, Omnipollo Nebuchadnezzer.

Copenhagen -headed for Mikkeller bar first and had Beer Geek Brunch Weasel and bottle of Beer Geek Flat White.

Warpigs - fantastic food, lots of good beer without being too fancy - although they did have a barley wine which was utterly disgusting.

Olbaren - had Schlenkerla Krausen on draft which I'd not had before and a coffee IPA from Rogue. The wife had draft KBS here also.

Mikkeller and Friends - really enjoyed here. Had a Hammerhead Speedway from AlesmithMikkeller Big Worster St Emilion barrel aged, Prairie Pirate Bomb, and a Berliner Weisse from Mikkeller.

Bar Jacobsen at the Carlsberg museum - wasn't expecting much but the brown ale and the porter were decent.

Tap House - 61 beers on tap, had Lervig Lucky Jack Grapefruit and a Mikkeller gose.

Had the Nebuchadnezzer at this point which was awesome. Amazing IPA. Also had an aocohol free Berliner Weisse from Mikkeller because hey why not.

Finished off back at Mikkeller and just had a Westbrook gose. Also brought some oddities back from the Mikkeller bottle shop - spntanbeetroot and spontancarrot.

Great holiday! My wife was gutted she could not find the Mikkeller Cocoa Shake anywhere for sale.

Looks like a fantastic Scandinavian trip and some great brews. Haven't visited the other cities but thought Fermentoren was my favourite bar in Copenhagen. Found it less stylised than other bars, have a collective of microbrewers linked to it producing quality stuff.

Sounds good, I didnt see/hear about that one. Copenhagen had a more developed beer scene but still preferred Stockholm as the best city. very restrictive laws regarding buying alcohol for home consumption in Norway and Sweden. No problems drinking in bars though.

Just home from a lovely day out in Edinburgh with Mrs. K, between us we had...

Edinbrew - Coffee and Blackcurrant Porter, nice but quite bitter,
Silkie Stout, really nice smooth stout with a hint of citrus,
La Vermontoise - Farmhouse Saison, excellent,
Brewdog - Black Heart Stout, better on draught than the bottle,
Cromarty - Baltic Porter, another fine beer with an obvious hint of coffee,
Pilot - Mochaccino Stout, easily the star of the day.
Forgot Lagunitas - IPA, a bit like the Brewdog stout, better on draught.

Tiny Rebel at the Beerkat was alright but sad the beers cost a bomb. Same for a half as what it cost for a pint in Cardiff. Tasty though.

    A IPA Saturday this weekend...

Brewdog - Born To Die 18.08.2016. Great concept, great bitterness.

    Odell - IPA. Caramelly hops.

Siren - Tidal Wave. Thick, silky smooth, pineapply DIPA. Does not taste 10%. Dangerous.

Pressure Drop - Pale Fire. Clean, fresh pale. Session.

Boundary - Berliner Vice. Tart cherry tart.

**Cloudwater - Three's Company. Beer of the weekend**.
    Buttery, thick, juicy caramel hops.

Mikkeller - Citra. Resinous, toffee / pineapple dank.

Moor Beer - Hoppiness. Well hopped, fresh, sessionable IPA.

Buxton - Berry Saki Bastard. Musty raspberry.

    Westbrook - IPA. Sessionable, drinkable.

A great selection, all really good; but special mentions to Three's Company and Tidal Wave. Fantastic brews.
