Starting off my weekend with a trip to Real Ale in Twickenham where i spent too much on a brace of Ayinger beers, three Northern Monk cans (Hop City, Eternal Infinity and Ricky Lightfoot), two Pressure Drops (the coffee wheat beer and the Cheeky session IPA), Gipsy Hill Bogan, Tiny Rebel Stay Puft and a Kernel Pale Ale.

Now relaxing with a homebrew brown ale before heading off to the local pub quiz tonight, where no doubt a few more will be supped.

    Happy Easter one and all!

    Binghams Vanilla Stout
    Firebrand Cross Pacific Pale Ale
    Moor Fusion 2016
    Moor PMA (cask)
    Moor So'Hop

Vanilla stout was nice and the Firebrand a nice citrus hopped pale ale. Popped into Moor to try the Fusion which was as good as last year. Sometimes have some casks available which are nice also to try. Over to Bath at the end of the week to visit Electric Bear for the first time.

I concur with the comments about unhuman. i had it on Saturday night and it didn't give me the wow factor the human had on Thursday. Maybe that's part of the issue releasing them at the same time.

On another note one of the bars here in Stockport had torrside American barley wine on cask on Sunday. Awesome and better than the bottle I had of it.

I also think it's weird releasing them (and other big beers) in the large cans but keeping the more sessionable beers in small ones.

Last night I managed to squeeze in a can of Cloudwater DIPA v13 which was incredible as expected. Some of the ones after v3 but before v10 were far too sweet for my liking, but lately they've really nailed that fruity-bitter-sweet-citrus balance.

Also tried at the pub was Itchen Valley's Royal Green Jackets bitter, which was very tasty and quaffable. We lost the quiz so a few Lagavulins followed, resulting in a fairly sore head this morning.

This evening I've got an Ayinger Fruhlingsbier which is ok.

Dropped the boy off at Kelvinbridge today after the football and popped into The Cave for a wee change. Got 4 Left Hand Milk Stout's - beautiful creamy stout, and 2 Andechs - Dunkel Hefeweisse - excellent in it's genre. Wish I had bought more now :slight_frown:

Lovely visit to Bath on Friday. Started at Electric Bear who were really nice and friendly even gave me a few tastes from the vats. Then onto Hunter and Sons for Noa Pecan which wiped me out. Inbetween visited Independent Spirit bottleshop. Didn't stop long as I would of bought the whole shop. Fantastic range, took a Chew Chew can and De Molen/Northern Monk collab.

Electric Bear Phase Two, Inspector Remorse, Insert Funny Name Here IPA, Mr Hanky, Drop.
    Omnipollo Noa Pecan Mud Cake.

Only sour point looks like I've been Yodelled. Delivery from Etre Gourmet has gone missing

Everything sweet now. Palace won, celebrated with a lovely boozy imperial stout, Victory Storm King and the parcel was with the next door neighbours unbeknownst to me

It's come round again, the weekend, she is here. 2nd in the pub quiz with pints of Sambrooks Junction and Triple F Moonlight, some Lagavulin and now a Northern Monk/Cloudwater Hop City IPA. All really good. Latter two the highlights.

Some WIlliams Bros Grozet - not as good as I remember and even though it is only mildy bitter, a good reminder of why hops overtook bog myrtle as a bittering agent for beer

Also a can of Drygate Seven Peaks which aldi are selling for £1.25 a pop. Full on murk and a pretty good mosaic aroma hit

All happening tonight in Bristol. Tap takeovers for Deya and Thornbridge. However the highlight has been a cracking local wild beer in the Lambic style from a brewery called Mills. Totally still, really refreshing, easy drinking sour beer. Great to see UK small breweries having a go at these styles. You can read their story here :

    https://millsbrewing.wordpress.com/

This is their first brew and if the rest are at this standard they are one to watch in this area.

Quick question, how did Deya suddenly explode in the uk? I didn't see anyhing from them, then they were everywhere.#

not tried any of their beers yet, so they could well be the greatest ever, they have a bit of the cloudwater about them

Not sure when they set up but I remember Steady Rolling Man hitting the shelves awhile back. Nothing spectacular really but one of the first to really embrace the murk. Then i tried a growler fill of The Very Hoppy Caterpillar IPA and was bowled over. Real explosion of hoppy fruit flavour unlike anything else I've seen before except some Cloudwater DIPAs, but far more drinkable at only 7% or so. Really can't wait to see more of them.

Tried the Steady Rollin Man at the Canalhouse, Nottingham the other week and really liked that one but as CwrwAmByth says The Very Hoppy Caterpillar IPA is very good, tropical fruit to the fore, possibly a tad too much as I couldn't detect a lot of bitterness at the back, unlike recent Cloudwater DIPA's but a lovely aroma. Sniffing more than tasting !! Hokum Stomp, their oatmeal porter was also good, the rest were IPA's.

Couple of recent highlights have been Gaffel Kölsch and Gipsy Hill Bogan.

A few pints of Redemption Trinity too, a perfect work evening beer at 3% but tastier than many 5%-ers.

Alcohol weakens the immune system. Tasty but it will make you sick for longer.
