I drink a new beer everyday. Have to be in the ball park of 1000 a year average with tastings and flights included. All depends on how much you wanna invest, both time and money.

Here's what I do. When I go to a store and buy beer, I log it into a notebook. For weekdays: every other day I drink a beer I haven't had before. I go by the order they are logged into my journal so that helps me avoid the temptation of leaving something in the fridge I am not sure of. And in between I drink favorites that are so good I just want to revisit time and time again. On Saturday I drink a bomber, usually half in the afternoon and the rest at night. On Sunday I usually drink one beer I haven't had and one favorite. This works for me because I find it is a good mix of adventure and familiarity. I have slightly more than 300 ticks. I really don't have a goal. It just seems right to think that the journey is more important than the destination.

My only beer drinking goal is to drink beers I enjoy drinking. Don't care if that's 1 or 1000.

I have absolutely no idea how many beers I have tried, nor do I care. I just like to drink beer.

I don't count the beers I've had; I'm not a ticker. While I'm sure that in my 15+ years of being into craft beer, I've had well over 1000 different beers - probably over 2000, I really don't have any idea exactly how many.
I am just in it to enjoy what I have, and to find interesting new beers. I have been lucky enough to get my hands on some of the most coveted beers out there, but again, it's not a race, it's not a game, it's for the enjoyment of world-class beers and the social aspects of same.

If I can get almost 5,000 in ~3.5 years, you can get 1,000. Good luck.

Certainly possible; just make sure to enjoy them along the way.

Been going strong for a little over 5 years(I'm 29 and started late) and am pushing 2,000. Really glad I got out of Alabama because it was a craft beer wasteland at the time.

It has gotten a lot better in just a few years. I even saw Jai Lai on the shelf the other week.

Iron Bowl ought to be better this year, although I'm a realist and think Bama will win.

I'm in the same boat as you. I turned 21 and started trying all kinds of beer. I just turned 25 and would estimate (on the low side) that I've had 1,000. Maybe as well as 1,000 beers, try knocking out as many beers possible in the top 100? just an idea

I just passed 100, and I'm trying very hard to do only reviews. I think I'm at 102 ratings with 100 reviews, so I have a couple of beers to round up and do full reviews on. In at least 80 cases, I've actually reviewed the beer at least twice -- once hand-written in my journal then again "officially" here on BA.com, meaning I've consumed at least two bottles/cans/pints of the same brew before posting the review.

My goal is to keep this up until I've tried every style of beer listed on BA.com. At least I think that's my goal. To be honest, I'm having too much fun drinking the good stuff to worry about it.

Another goal is to form my own personal Top 100 -- to find 100 beers I love so much I could handle drinking any single one of them exclusively. I'm about 20 or so so far.

This year so far I have tried & reviewed 1250 new beers but I have no ticking goal. I could have easily done a lot more.
Going to beer festivals really helps especially if you go with a lot of different people & all of you get different beers.
I go to about one beer festival per month on average & at a good one you can easily get 40 beers. At Borefts I tried 135.
Tastings are obviously a very convenient way to rank up tick’s. Try to find local tasting groups which is something I lack.
Bars with either rotating selection of a very large number of bottles are obviously a good source as well.
Same goes for a good beer store, I often frequent one that sells a bunch of Belgian micro’s (usually +/- 850) at around 1 € per bottle.
Travelling is obviously a very easy way to pick up new ratings & beers.

    Overall location & co-conspirators help a lot.

Try Maine Beer Company. I think you can get their products in the Philly and/or D.C. areas, or make the trip up to Maine when you get the chance.

The Ultimate Beer Goal isn't a number, or a specific beer. It's not something someone can tell you that you've achieved. You'll know it when you reach it, and it's amazing.

    ...Zen moment of the day

    The ultimate beer goal?
It's rather satisfying to return to the 'classics' sometimes.

Goal....beer? Surely you kid. There are no trophies...no back patting, just the simple joy of having a beer.

Others may disagree, but what you say is infantile and bereft of good sense

Not to put a damper on your situation, but review the beers!

I'm less than a year out of school and started similarly to you. I had almost 300 by graduation, but had I just hit "had" with a number review, I would currently be near 1,000. To me, reviewing a beer takes time and thought, and makes you enjoy the beer a little more. I can understand if it's not your thing, and I'm not here to tell you what to do, but think of all the times you looked at a review for guidance in picking a beer out.

My ultimate beer goal is to become a better home brewer. I just started brewing all grain batches and my home brews are getting better and better!

i got into craft shortly after turning 21 ill be 23 now in a few months. ive been on the site since april of this year and ive got 60 tracked beers but only 50 or so of those were new to me. i think i would drive myself crazy if i had a goal of x number of beers to reach, i love beer and trying new beers but i also love drinking the beers i already love. for me its about balance and not over doing it and just enjoying beer.
