I'll be making a trip to Dayton sometime in the next few months (date is flexible) and my dad suggested the weekend of March 9th because he saw a billboard for a craft beer fest and he knows I'm into craft beer. I did some research and found their website http://www.ultimatecraftbeerextravaganza.com/. The basics:

    - Admission to a 2.5 hour session is $60, purchasing a VIP ticket for $85 gets you in an hour early. Both include a food voucher and unlimited 1 oz. pours
    - They are projecting a total selection of 350-450 beers

The more I look at the website and think about it, the less I'm inclined to schedule my trip around this event. From what I see, there's nothing special about the beers listed so far that would compel me to buy a ticket; they all seem to be typical shelf beers. Also, what's up with the price? I believe both AleFest Dayton and the Big Beers & Barleywines Fest were at or around $35 and this one's almost double. Is the 1 oz. pour mandated by law or is that just their set-up?

My original reason for starting a thread was to see if anyone had been to an event put on by the organizers (On Tap America LLC, DBA B&G Events LLC) and had some feedback on how well it was run. But after checking out the business profiles on Bizapedia, I see the On Tap America LLC was just filed on 7/6/12 and B&G Events on 1/25/13 which would lead me to believe they created one or both LLC's just for this event and the others they have planned in and around Ohio this year. This makes me nervous.

I don't think I'll be planning my trip for that weekend, but I'm interested in hearing what people think about how this event is structured, whether you're going or not.

I live in Dayton and have not heard of this festival before. I just briefly looked at beer list and as you stated I didn't see anything that you can't find on the shelf of most of the craft beer stores around here. I don't know the law but I don't think the 1 oz pour is mandated as the other two festivals you referenced in the area give you 3 oz+ pours. From what I see so far I would not plan on attending. The other festivals you mentioned are lower prices and better beers (especially the Big Beer and Barleywine fest).
