Rumor is that a House of Blues franchise will be moving in

LOL. I was supposed to be having my rehearsal dinner for my wedding there next year. Guess we're changing venues.

I've heard rumours of its' closing for months now. I thought they had very good beef ribs (the other meats, meh). Some great beer though... hopefully Barton Springs keeps its' doors open as I really love a few of their beers (particularly the lagers and their Insomniac Coffee Stout).

Sorta saw the writing on the wall when Brian Peters ducked out.

We visited here last October around 5pm on a weekday. Dead. I couldn't figure out how they were paying the overhead with virtually no customers in the restaurant for happy hour/dinner. Not surprised.

i tried to go for lunch one day and it was closed for "winter hours" on mondaays and tuesdays or something. I thought that was odd at the time.

they had just put a burger on that was probably one of the best ive had in town, and the beer speaks for itself, as always.

was one of me and the mrs favorite places to go. Now theres real no reason for me to go out there at all. Used to go to soliel as well, but im sure they wont serve uncle billys beers now. Bummer for sure.

I was literately there Nov. 3 for a wedding. I guess it was kind of slow for a Saturday night.

They had a 30 bbl capacity. Lots of factual errors in that article.

anyone know the deal behind the head brewers at both locations leaving? Aren't they starting something new?

Yeah, cause there arent enough bars south.

That said, i cant wait either. Actually more for Tims food than the overly hopped beer that will unveil.

Brian Peters honestly isn't known so much for his hoppy beers as his lagers and weissbiers. He does a lot of stuff that other Texas brewers don't even try to attempt because of the extra equipment and advanced technique needed (Austin Beerworks is another one as well as Live Oak, where Peters worked as brewmaster for a while)

Might I remind you that the dude co-invented Live Oak Hefeweizen.

Now Amos Lowe on the other hand... that dude is a hop head. I expect a nice 50/50 split between lagers and ales/IPAs.

Dont get me wrong, there is no denying that they are some of the best brewers out there, but for my tastes, ive had pretty much 4-5 beers total at either location that weren't at least mildly overpowering to super overpowering on hops. And if im lucky, 1 beer was on tap that wasnt hops heavy, IF i were lucky. Just off the top of my head the only brews i can think of that were not hop bombs to my taste buds are Insomniac stout, Smoked porter, Dave Tripel. I know there are 1 or 2 more beers ive had that were not hoppy but i cant remember the names at this time. And usually its 0-1 of those on tap when ive been in, or youd have to have been there on a special day to get them.

Personally im just more excited to see what Tim is gonna come up with for food ideas because its an unknown factor for me. I know Tim as the afternoon bartender and Sangria maker, so to me its exciting to see him stepping out from behind the bar and into the kitchen, and from talking to him he seems pretty excited about it as well.

Live close by and we went often. It was always so empty. I like their beer but their food was pretty average. It is still hard to believe that they weren't busier considering the location, the view and the fact that The Oasis always has such a long wait and they too have average food.
