Tried searching the forums and couldn't find anything. Just picked up a bottle of Avery's Uncle Jacob's stout with the batch from feb 2015 (not sure if there were different batches for the year). Debating if I should hold off and age it for a little longer or drink it fresh (relatively). I recall reading some posts where BA recommended drinking it asap but I may be mistaken

Drink now. I honestly think it's better than regular BCBS.

I tend to lean toward drinking things I've never had before fresh. That being said, Uncle Jacob's is pretty hot and in my opinion is best with a little age.

Luckily I have had the pleasure of having it a couple times and Uncle Jacobs is delicious on its own. Uncle Jacobs is its own entity and should not be compared to others. If you are able to obtain it enjoy it for what it is, cheers!

I'm sitting on one--I've heard from a trustworthy source that it's hot and sweet out of the gate. To each their own, however...

If you've never had it, drink it up and go back to the store and buy another to sit on. It's an absolute steam show fresh so expect hot alcohol taste fresh. If you let it sit for a bit it's still very good but a little less "comin' in HOT" (if that makes sense)

It was great fresh, but I agree with everyone saying it was very hot. I have another one stashed away for next year!

I usually sit in barrel aged stouts for at least 9 months. I like the heat to mellow but that is just my preference.

One of these was given to me as an extra in a trade. Never had it before so drank it fresh. Was amazed at how awesome this was. Now I have to see if I can find it in my area. I definitely look around for it now, but so far no luck.

I've only had it on tap 2 or 3 times this year fresh... but I wouldn't hesitate to open one of my bottles now. Its so good. That being said, I will probably wait a year to open my first bottle. Its very reminiscent of BCBS but just bigger!

Hot as living shit and damn incredible fresh. Drink it. Mine was the 17.42% batch from 2013 I think, but even the lower 14.8% is a beast.
