I brewed a cama citra extract kit from northern brewer, i bottled conditioned and the beer came out great but i pick up this flavor usually after a burp, but i cant describe it, and reading online it is not a common off flavor. its like a eating a bad hop pellet or something, the beer smells great, taste great, just cant pick up that flavor, the only thing i can think of is mabee some b-brite residue got left in my bottles, or it was not rinsed properly out of the primary. i wish someone could tell me by tasting it. I used b-brite and let the bottles soak overnight to remove labels. some of the b-brite stuck to the bottles and it took hrs to get that white stuff off, i used star san before bottling.

What does a "bad hop pellet" taste like to you?

Did you brew with tap water? My guess is chlorine.

i bought 5 gallons of drinking water from the store, the bad hop is hard to describe, could be off on that (burn plastic) is more like it. and only taste it after drink not on the smell or palate, usually on a burp ?

Does that guarantee that there is no chlorine (or chloramine) in that water? I have read that some bottled water (labeled as drinking water) is sourced from municipal water sources.
That sure sounds like chlorophenol to me. Maybe this thread would be helpful: http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/plastic-smell-taste.83129/

    Cheers!

you guys are awesome for helping me, lots of good info on that link. I used b-brite to clean and sanitize the primary and rinsed with tap water (But not well), also used a b-bite mix to sanitize my digital thermometer and bubblier also ( i had no star san). then i bought star san and used it for my secondary and equip-used to transfer . also the big one is i soaked my bottles in b-brite for hrs to remove labels and to clean and i didn't measure, and there was b-brite residue in my bottles and i cleaned it off as much as possible, on bottling day i soaked all bottles in star san (measured) per gallon, then hit them with a bottle brush and then filled..i am thinking left over B-brite is my issue. i dont smell the taste or taste it on the palate ly until after drink. ....i cant smell it the beer smells good !

Not saying this is the source of your off-flavor, but next time you should sanitize your bottles with starsan after using the bottle brush.
