The place was a clip joint type of establishment that often changed our weekly tabs depending on that week's business. my conscience is clear...

If its a big chain store like Total Wine i have no problem not telling them, but if its my local bottle shop i usually double check with the person working.

I used to find fresh sculpin at an albertsons for $10 a sixer and would regularly go there just for that, but once they raised the price to the typical $17 i never went back.

Funny how distinctions like that are made. If it rang up over the price you'd surely say something wouldn't you?

Back to beer incorrectly under-priced. If I know the clerk or it's a small bottle shop, I'd say something. Those are the guys that hook you up when shipments come in, special orders, etc. Other places? Maybe? But the devil's advocate in me says: Should it really be my job to tell them how to do theirs? Just sayin...

The fact that almost 50% of my fellow BAs said they would just grab it "Jackpot" is disheartening to say the least.

We are in this together guys and gals. If you snake a bunch bottles from your retailer this week and they lose money, next week they jack the price on something up and you pay for it anyway.

Treating your beer grazing grounds like that and "getting one over" must feel really good so you brag about it, and when that same shop denies you a limited release for a "regular" it hurts so you cry about it..

Seems like a muuuuch better system than just doing the right thing. Beer is WAAY more important...

I wouldn't clear the place out, but when this happens I'll walk away with a few bottles. I don't want them to take a serious hit, but this is craft beer retail; you gotta be on top of your game

If it's a beer I enjoy or want to try I will but it. If it isn't I do nothing. That's why I voted buy some or don't buy it.

This is sort of like me, except I use the rationale that if I can find someone would care to know/ have the ability + interest to "fix" it, I will let them know. If it is such a "big box" that there are only minimum wage employees who have no clue how to even change a price (if they are allowed to), no I will not bother.

Sometimes I just think this shows that how much the expensive stores are marking up their price.

But I would generally only purchase a single of the mis-priced beer and I generally let the store know before purchasing.

prices are marked up so much at the good bottle shops in center city philly that every time I make it to a store in the burbs I feel like every beer is priced too low!

I go to that Target all the time and you are 100 percent right about everything you said. The same thing happened to me with the Lagunitas High Westified. I only bought on bottle and I am glad I did. Wasn't in to it so much.

We have a statute called the "Trade Description Act" which states that goods must be exactly as described. If it's clearly marked at that price then that is the price it must be sold at unless the customer agrees (this would of course be the case if the price has wrongly been too high).
But a store does not have to sell any article on display unless it is described as "For Sale" or "Sale Price" but if it does they must charge what it says.

Ok I don't think I have ever seen this. I think I have seen this a couple of times maybe but in relation to spirits? If I was the shopkeeper I would be doing my best to talk you out of the purchase given the loss that they would be making on the sale of the single or 4pk.

I would definitely pick up one, maybe two, at the lower price and notify the person at the counter during check out.

However, I'm not going to "tell" them that they are marking/selling something for too low a price.
I don't, nor have I ever, really frequented a Mom & Pop store to buy my beer, so if the chain stores don't have their act together on their inventory and pricing I'm not going to feel guilty by purchasing something at a lower price.

TW close to me does this typically on the day they get shipments in... just this week I grabbed some Duclaw Hop Continuum 3 and For Petes Sake (don't judge me) and they both rang up as Sawtooth, which is a couple bucks cheaper per sixer. I saw it, as did the cashier, and they re-rang it up correctly. I think they're just in a hurry to get it in the system and they dump new stock under anything.

If it's my responsibility to check the age, then it's their responsibility to check the price.
