perfect answer. if it's my local go-to shop (it would probably never happen anyway haha) but I would tell them. but somewhere like a chain grocer I'm probably taking advantage.

Here most states have passed laws (often the deceptive trade practices act) that requires retailers to sell products for the price to which it has been labeled on the shelf. If the retailer makes an error in pricing it must honor its advertised price. Arguably it is even unlawful for them to increase the price if you take the beer to the counter and ask if the price is wrong. The burden is on a retailer to manage its inventory and accurately price the shelves. Otherwise buying items would be chaotic and it would create opportunities for unscrupulous retailers to markup items at the register (this is how we ended up with these laws in the first place). Imagine a bottle shop seeing you come to the counter with BCBS knowing you don't buy any of the Bud Light that gets them the BCBS inventory and marks up your bottles but discounts the next guy who comes in every Saturday and buys a 24 pack of Bud Light.

This is different from a product correctly priced on the shelf but rings up wrong or under a different sku. The store has the right to correct the pricing in the register to whatever is advertised on the shelf.

I think it's wrong for somebody to take up a case and pay for a single bottle or 4/6 pack price because the same barcode was used on the case and the customer knows the price of an individual unit is not the price for the whole case. I sincerely doubt the advertised price on the shelf in any way reflects that price for a case.

What if it was "overpriced" would you act the same way, tell someone, expect them to lower it, etc
