Figured this might be a fun thread - has anyone had any big finds at a local shop that were completely unexpected? I've recently seen some BCBS at random shops in Boston near where I live, but of course the price was ridiculous ($25). I've also seen some KBS at a local market that I wouldn't have expected to find it at. Curious to see what some others have found in the area that were completely unexpected.

Just stopped by lukes liquors(my go to bottle shop) for their beer tasting event, 20 plus tables, one of the beer guys mentioned something about having KBS , I asked and managed to walk away with a 4 pack. Gotta love that

This certainly isn't recent, but I always find it incredible that there was a time in Greater Boston where Cantillon was actually on shelves, some collecting dust. Eventually word got out and now we are where we are as far as distro. I wish I had the refinement to appreciate those wild lambics back then. So many times I would pass by and grab dogfish head 90 or 120 or something akin to that.

You could even get bottles at Publick House! Nowadays we're inundated with some of the best beer in the world, so I can't complain. But I do wish I could still stroll into a store and be pleasantly surprised upon seeing a Classic Gueuze or a Kriek. Apricot Stonington will have to suffice.

Found some bcbs at price chopper in December or Jan, $7.99 I think. I seem to find quite a few "limited release And rare euro bottles" at pearl street beverage, if it is not hops tends to sit around

I know these beers sit in some areas but... I walked into a bottle shop yesterday and saw one vanilla and one coffee 50/50 eclipse sitting on the shelf. They've been gone for months in my area. I snagged em. Apparently some employee of the store quit and never took them with him so they just put em back on the shelf.

I recently found some BCBS locked in a bourbon cabinet in a bottle shop outside Boston. They had 6 bottles. So I asked if they'd unlock the cabinet and let me buy them. They did. They were really surprised to find out it was beer.

Every once in a while I find BOMB! tucked into the corner of some random bottle shop. After walking through a few bottle shops in the Boston area it's like we have no selection up here. I did buy a bunch of KBS at a little grocery store a couple months ago, I think they were happy to sell me all of it and clear up some space.

I've stumbled across some Blaugies offerings a couple times when I wasn't expecting it in the last year. I know they used to show up more often but it had been a while. La Moneuse is my joint.

Well, a little hole-in-the-wall strip mall liquor shop near me has DFH 120, Sunday Morning Stout, Breakfast Exorcism, Crasher in the Rye, and Utopia on the shelves. Practically collecting dust, they are. They also get Be Hoppy regularly, and still have many bottles of Bourbon Framinghammer.

I stopped in yesterday for some Enjoy By and while I was poking around, several cases of Bud Light went out. Seems like their selection is way more crafty than their clientele, which works fine for me.
