Well after about 70 shipments with Fedex for trades I had a package seized this week on it's way from NJ to FL. Unfortunately the package contained a 2014 Prop that I was sending to a fellow trader, all was well up until we checked the shipping status and this popped up in the info. Package was a single bottle shipper, well packaged and bubble wrapped inside the Styrofoam bottle holder. Anyone ever experience this? And what was the outcome? Please, I'm not looking for opinions just people who have had a similar experience and what the end result was. Cheers.. Steve
I have not had issue with FedEx, but similar with UPS. They shipped the package back to me. What was the wording of their message on tracking saying it was "seized"?
You won't be able to ask for the bottle back. If you try to file a claim, they will send you a letter rejecting it because your shipment contained an alcoholic beverage and did not meet the FedEx requirements for shipping alcohol. Sucks it was a 2014 Prop, but you had a long streak of success. Best not to dwell on it. FedEx is still the best choice of shipping for trades imo. Cheers.
Quick question - did it say the package was confiscated/seized or a shipping exception? I had a similar situation where a friend sent some AZ goodies and a bottle of St George Rhum. What happened was the bottle of Rhum broke in transit and I got a shipping exception - damaged in transit. The exception gave the option of me/my friend to pick it up or it will be discarded. Luckily, the bottle broke at one of the local MA FedEx distribution centers and I just picked it up. When I got to the FedEx center, I had to wait for a nice lady to bring the package out to me. She told me that a bottle of Rhum broke. They even removed all the broken glass and moved the beer into a plastic bag, put it back in the box and tapped it up! She asked me if I knew why they it wasn't put on the truck for delivery? I played dumb and said no. She continued to say that it is against our policy to ship alcohol but commented that they know there are thousands of FedEx packages containing alcohol. I left with the beer and the Rhum soaked box in hand. I guess the point of my story is you may get lucky and if you contact the location where they package was seized and not contacting FedEx corporate first. Maybe they'll let you come and pick the package up there if it is even in driving distance for you or your trading partner. Of course, each FedEx center is different. Hope it works out in one way or the other!
Thanks for the feedback guys.. Been on the phone with Fedex a few different times, still waiting for my package to land at their Over-goods location in Salt Lake City, Utah.. I'm going to be persistent and see if they will ship back to me..
I have found the central fedex people to be stricter while local offices are more easy going. If you can find where it is and try to talk to someone there you might be better off.
