I went to my local bottle shop yesterday, I know the owner pretty well and he gave me 6 bottles of Unibroue Quelque Chose for $20. Said he didnt have room and it didnt sell well the last time he had it. I have 1 chilling to open tonight. Was just wondering if some of you have had this before, if so what did you think. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/22/1090
Since you have six. You have to do the taste test. Unibroue does this beer to be served both way. One was is chilled as you have it. The other way is warmed up and drank like a warm apple cider. Some people have said its polarizing. Give it a shot. You have 4 more bottles. Cheers!
Try it on ice...try it warmed up like cider...try it like a regular beer...all 3 ways Unibroue recommends
It's great warmed up, but in summer/warmer weather I generally prefer it served cold. I have never had it on ice, just fridge temp. It's a great beer, but definitely not your typical cherry ale. Little to no carbonation/head, strong sour cherry flavours. It's an excellent beer, but you have to be in the mood for it.
I love this beer. I haven't tried warmed (I don't drink many hot beverages, just the occasional cup of hot chocolate or tea), or over ice, but man I love it out of the fridge. Need to get some more to restock my stash.
My girlfriend and I had a bottle which we split hot and on the rocks. Like hefehead said, I thought it had a medicinal quality (like Robitussin, except in the best way possible), which was accentuated when colder. This diminished in its warm counterpart, which was a good deal fruitier, too.
Not a big fruit beer guy, but I really liked this brew. I noticed a lot of people who dont really like or drink beer liked this one, got a lot of "this is beer?!" reactions.
It's a really nice brew, whether hot ("mulled"), served chilled in a tulip, or even served over ice. That was an AWESOME deal you got yourself!
I tried it chilled, didn't finish it and didn't like it even remotely close enough to bother trying it warm. Hope you have better luck.
Definitely serve it mulled, IMO, brings out the flavours better. Still got 3 bottles of the 2002 vintage in my fridge, and they are drinking wonderful.
