Unibroue vs Ommegang

I went with Ommegang due to their more diverse offerings

 

Unibroue. The yeast is so incedibly distinctive and can be a little much, but it drops out with age and no beers in North America aged as well as Unibroue.

 

Unibroue has, what, four or five beers in their regular lineup? And yet they hit every single one out of the park. I want to give credit to Ommegang for trying more different beers and styles, but when you're batting 1.000 you're almost impossible to beat. Unfortunately I had to ding Ommegang for diluting its lineup with a handful of B beers.

This was a really tough vote, ask me on a different day and I might vote the other way. Thank God I don't have to choose in real life...

You forgot the obvious winner: Allagash.

 

I first started to drink Unibroue when i was 15 years old, and fin du monde et maudite was the best to get drunk, but over the years i realized how much those beers where awesome , nowadays in Quebec , crafted beer and microbrasserie are becoming trendy and ''à la mode ''. I've never had the chance to drink from the Ommegang fountains of goods.

 

Trois pistoles. Enough said.

 

Love them both, but gun to my head it's Unibroue by a hair.

 

really tough one. i LOVE both breweries, but gotta give it to ommegang if you are to look at the lineup as a whole.

for what it's worth, i didn't vote because i rank them about equal (both great, as previously stated), but when i opened the thread again, i quickly looked at the poll and thought

'ommegang'

had been switched out and replaced with

'gnomegang'

and instinctively almost voted for it. fresh gnomegang was a revelatory beer; when i drunkenly praise other beers, i withhold certain vocab praise-overstatement words so i can cart them out when beers in the gnomegang tier come around. loved it.

 

Love them both. Three philosophers is just outstanding though...so I'll give them the edge.

 

I tend to buy more Unibroue than Ommegang, but damn is this close. I usually buy these two over actual Belgians, due to price, so I buy tons of each, but I only tend to get Hennepin, and Abbey Ale from Ommegang regularly, while I buy Unibroue's entire lineup rather regularly.

 

unibroue has a better portfolio, but i would rather drink a hennepin or 3 phil based on how my palate has changed in recent years

 

Almost everything I have from Ommegang is mediocre. Unibroue wins hands down.

Unibroue is good as hell too though.
Om only won by a hair really, just cuz of 3P.

Had to go with Unibroue. Got me into Craft.

 

Ommegang takes this for me in a landslide. I really look forward to their new releases.
