Trois pistoles is one of my favorite beers, and Fin du monde is the only non-belgian tripel that I think is up there. So, Unibroue.

How is no one talking about La Terrible?! In my opinion this is the best beer from both breweries. Then you take into account Fin Du Monde, Trois Pistoles, Maudite... Unibroue might just be a top 3 brewery in NA for any style.

How easy for you guys to get Unibroue beers? For me i live just around Quebec city, its easy to get my everyday fix from almost any gas station or grocery store?

I've never seen Ommegang beers around here!

Unibroue can be found almost anywhere. I much prefer it to Ommegang.

Before I just now tried the Ommegang Witte, I might have said Ommegang, but they whiffed on the witte IMO. I've had several Unis that were solid hits.

I might like Unibroue more overall, but they don't make Hennepin, and I would take that over any beer the two breweries produce. Gotta go with Ommegang. It's that good.

Quality Brewers, much respect to both…I would have to pick Ommegang.

The thing that gets me about Unibroue is that all of their beers taste similar in my opinion. Those French Canadians want to punch you in the face with their house yeast.

Unibroue was underwhelming every time I tried it. It may have been the overthe top reviews I'd read, but dissappointing none the less. Allagash has popped up from a few of you too. Again, it didn't live up to the hype for me. Not bad, just not great. Ommegang won me over with Hennepin draft at a up scale wine eatery my wife likes. After that I executed a search and destroy on their other brews. All great except the Wit.

I love both of these breweries but I do tend to buy more La Fin Du Monde then I do Three Philosphers (just prefer triples more) so I have to be fair and let my money do the voting for me.

Man, I could not agree more. Last Thanksgiving I picked up the Ommegang box set, already having tried Hennepin and Three Philosophers many many times, figuring the three 750ml bottles would be a good share with family and a good pair with the massive amount of food about to be consumed. I never had Gnomegang and was blown away by how good it was and how great it paired with everything we ate. I am a HUGE Hennepin fan but would have sacrificed that bottle for another Gnomegang in a heartbeat.

I enjoy Unibroue, but that hardcore yeast character is in all of their better beers I've had. Kind of makes them all taste the same to me after a while. So Ommegang.

Nothing against both breweries but I have to cast another "write in" vote for Allagash. I really enjoy Curieux, Odyssey, and Four. I just wish they would come back to Ohio.

Three Philosphers sets Ommegang apart from Unibroue. They dont brew a Quad-type beer of the same quality.

I agree. Hennepin is the benchmark Belgian Style Saison and I aslo voted for Ommegang. I got a Christmas gift pack and 3 Philosophers & Abbey Ale are fantastic. Other than La Fin Du Monde I tried Maudite and didn't like it much. I am open to other brews from north of the border though.

I'll have to spend the money and try 3 Philosophers. I would have before, but the other beer I've tried by Ommegang just hasn't led me in that direction. I go out of my way for Unibroue, and only settle for Ommegang, which for me is the cheaper option.

My main problem with Ommegang is that there is a house style there that seems to be just a bit too much button-down, or by the book. I'd like to see just a hair more phenolic character from their yeast sigs, a bit more vibrancy. Of course, that aspect works incredibly well with Hennepin's very elegant, almost austere nature- the perfect expression of that brewery's vision. That, and the aforementioned Three Philosophers, are the ones I tend to get from them

I really do like Unibroue's crazy-ass yeast signature better, and I think they incorporate it extremely well into their best beers. La Terrible, Trois Pistoles, Don de Dieu, Maudite are all just great stuff, and are ones I revisit more often. Given the choice, Unibroue got my vote.

I am a huge Uni fan. However, I just had a group of engineers come in from Quebec for a few days. We were talking beer over lunch and they told me that Maudite is considered trash or bum beer in Quebec. They equated it to Colt 45. Its really cheap and easy to get and gets you drunk fast. Just an FYI
