Universal Poppet...Done Me Wrong Song

What don't you like about them? Just curious, as I don't have any, but someday the NOS will run out I guess.

 

Count me interested as well, the AIH new kegs shipped with the Uni's.

 

So the new aih kegs have the universals?

I just got 3 kegs from them. Used ones though, and cheap.

 

I only got one of their new ones...so I can only say that the one they sent has them.

I've gotten a used one from them as well...it was one of those "Best Condition" kegs...it came in pretty good shape and a brand spanken new lid...and normal poppets.

 

My "loose boot/handle" kegs came with.. regular poppets as far as I can tell, old kegs and kids, but all held pressure, and none were loose anywhere, so I dunno what they were talking about. Couple dents on the kegs, but insides look pristine.

 

Yeah, I debated not paying the extra for a better used keg, but it was only $10 more or something. I have a feeling it may be more of a cash grab than anything else.

 

I almost sprung for the new italian ones they had for $75. Are these the ones with the universal poppets.. I'm curious about any issues with them.

 

Nah, the one's with Uni's are the Chinese made ones. I saw the Chinese new kegs for $75, but not the AEB ones. My AEB keg has those poppets that sit inside the posts...that you have to pry out.

 

A couple of my kegs have universal poppets, my biggest complaint it the springs are really tight/strong and sometimes it takes a lot of force to get it on, haven't had any leaks or major/minor problems in at least a year.

 

I've found that when the liquid one is seizing (i have 2 kegs that they do this on), that tapping the liquid out connector down on the post a rubber mallet tends to get it working again.

 

Balls. Hoping I don't have the same issue. Just replaced all the poppets in 9 of my 11 kegs with the universal guys.

 

Well yeah but its just the one poppit on the one keg with that specific connector. If i break it so be it just gives me the impetus to replace it

 

I have bought used ones from AiH with loose handles/bottom which were... loose.
