When I moved into my current place, there was a keg sitting in the corner of the basement with no registration sticker nor sign of origin besides that it's marked as an AB keg. I took it to a local liquor store and they told me it was illegal for them to take it without it being registered. What can I do with it as it's still just sitting in my basement?
Post a FT: empty keg ISO: ???? and put in it where you are in hypothesis. I know Im gonna get alot of slack for it, but you attempted to return it. They wouldnt take it, now its yours to get rid of, a homebrewer will want it to use as a brew kettle.
There are a milliion thing you could turn it into like the abve mentioned. I've seen smokers, kettles used for deep frying, a still, fermentor ect.
98% sure that returning a keg to a store that did not sell it to you is not illegal. They can't sell you an unregistered keg, but they can take it. The owner of said keg will obviously forfeit his registration/container fee's. Blanchards of Allston buys stray kegs for $20.
I need to buy a few Kegs, and if anyone has one in NH/MA and maybe as far as CT VT and Maine I would be interested in some.
yes Im a home brewer and looking to make a bigger brew kettle. Would gladly pay cash or trade for beer
It's definitely NOT illegal for them to take it back... Kappy's in Falmouth pays $20 for unregistered kegs, also. It's probably just a store policy not to take them.
