We hate spam as much as you do, which is why we don't send spam. We send transactional and newsletter/update emails to users who've signed up for a BeerAdvocate account. Users who set their accounts to watch threads or conversation may also receive automated emails upon activity if selected. If you no longer wish to receive emails form us, follow these instructions: Site Emails You can't unsubscribe from important system emails related to your account. If available, click the "unsubscribe" link that's embedded in our emails. It's a one-click process that doesn't require logging into your account. You may also update your settings under the Contact Details section of Your Account. Conversation Emails If you no longer wish to receive emails when you get a new private conversation, simply uncheck "Receive email when a new conversation message is received" under your Contact Details settings. Thread Emails If you no longer wish to receive emails for threads, follow these steps: Go to your Watched Forums. If there are any listed, select them, select "Disable email notifications" in the pulldown, and click "Go." Go to your Watched Threads. If there are any listed, follow the same process above. Uncheck "and receive email notifications of replies" under your Preferences settings. Our email system and unsubscribe processes are in compliance with the FTC's CAN-SPAM Act.
