Overall the event was pretty fun. It is much nicer when you're going to a festival not chasing anything in particular. I heard the VIP was a little bit of a mess from friends who were there early. We got in right around 3:30 and stayed until Cake kept interrupting their show for diatribes about trees and such. Gladly got O&P and AL, some of the Goose stuff, always enjoy easily getting pours of Scots Gone Wild. Saw some interesting music, didn't have to fight too much for parking. I think the key is really to get there early enough and just be along for the ride.

I know a number of people were surprised by the one "premium" tents pouring after 8:30 even though the other tents still had beer. If I had a gripe, it would be more publicizing of this, and also it seemed like some of the tents were staffed by people who knew nothing about the beer they were pouring. At the end of the day, I had a good time.

I think that is a problem with most festivals - just not enough people know enough about beer that are pouring. The people who do know enough are typically the people buying tickets to the festival so they can drink and not volunteering. That tends to be the issue with just about every festival.

Unfortunately at this festival, Untapped required booths to be "staffed" by the volunteers that in no way were associated with the breweries or even knew anything about the beer they were pouring. At our tent, we didn't ask for the pourers or anything they were just assigned there. It wasn't that bad however, we had someone assigned to each keg and they only took up two out of our 6.
