Untitled Art

I did a blind tasting on friday, tournament consensus style, with 3 people. 8 ipas, and untitled art came in 4th in some good company.

DDH Sue>King Sue>Trillium DDH Sleeper St>UA Juicy>TreeHouse Bright w/Nelson>TreeHouse Haze>Trillium Vicinity>Lagunitas IPA.

What is the verdict on batch #2? Has it improved from batch 1? I'm not saying there was a problem with batch one, but wondering if it is indeed juicy this time?

 

I think it's better than last batch. More hops and less of the Belgian hints that I picked up from the last one.

 

Anyone try the Imperial Hazelnut Stout? I'm not a huge hazelnut fan, but if it is not dominant I'd give it a try.

 

Had it today. I enjoyed it but it is very hazelnut forward, so may be doubtful that you'd enjoy it

 

I got a single as part of a mixed 6, and I'm glad I only got one. The hazelnut flavor was very strong in both the nose and the taste. It wasn't bad, really, but not something I'm wanting more of. Kind of reminded me of some of the Mobcraft beers.

Meh. If I want hazelnut in my stout, I'm reaching for Hazel's Nuts, from Oddside (Phrasing!). That beer is about as perfect as a hazelnut adjunct stout can be.

 

I'm not a fan of Hazels Nuts, but I really liked this.

 

Opened a bottle of hazelnut last night and wasn't overly impressed. It was too sweet and the hazelnut taste was very powerful.

 

I had the hazelnut stout at Mikerphone's brewpub last night. I thought it was incredible! I love hazelnut though, so being too hazelnut forward is probably a good thing for me...

Second week of May for UA Hazy IIPA and we have a surprise for the next batch.

 

How is the hazy IIPA?

 

Let me tell how the Hazy IIPA is... DELICIOUS! It is much better than Juicy. Very tropical and sweeter. I highly recommend it if you like tropical flavors in your IPAs. Dare I say it reminds me of TG Sosus.

 

So curious, as I'll be heading up to Madison in a couple months. I've wanted to check out Octopi for a while, so hoping to swing through. I know they have a selection of their own (3rd Sign) taps, but are the rotating ones typically brews that have been contract brewed at the space? Or just random local taps?

 

That is correct, I heard they were discontinuing the brand. I only tried the first couple of beers they released, and it wasn't anything I really got into so I never bothered trying any of the others.

Thanks for all of the replies. So do they still have an open tap room? Seeming like it wouldn't be worth the trip north at this point if I'm in the area.
