After considering feedback from the beer trading community and mods, the following rule for leaving feedback has been removed: "Feedback should only be left if one or both traders have shipped."

This means that feedback many now be left for those who decide to back out of agreed upon trades; as initiated by the feedback system.

Sorry for the delay on this, but I hope that this helps to improve accountability and communication amongst the beer trading community.

    Cheers!

A very big thank you for closing a loop hole in the system.

@Todd I assume this means that 1-sided feedback will not be erased after 180 days? (In the case of someone backing out of a trade, there should be only one-sided feedback.)

This would need to be explored and the system adjusted to support it.

Would this be internal only, or do you need any discussion by the community? I think I speak for everyone that has participated in all the various BT threads that the community is more than happy to be helpful if we can.

It's more of an internal code thing.

Great change! How do we deal with retaliatory feedback from the other party?

Leaving retaliatory feedback = immediate ban as I understand it. Given the rule change, it should be obvious the loophole that is being closed, and so this should not be given much leniency. So, should you find yourself in this situation (where you receive retaliatory feedback), you should just need to contact @dmbforever . He can take it from there whether a BT thread needs started, or something else.

I have not experienced someone backing out on a deal once the trade agreement has been approved but I think this is a good idea for one reason. I rely on the trade agreement as a done deal that can be relied on by both parties. Once it has been exicuited, it is a big deal for me if someone changes his/her mind. I think this elevated the importance of the trade agreement and I applaud this move.

I think this is particularly important given some of the recent IP trade stories, where obviously no beer was ever intended to be shipped.

You stand someone up for an IP trade, you deserve negative feedback.

Totally agree, this is needed too, it's a loophole that needs to be closed, it goes hand in hand with this new rule.

As a new trader, I wouldn't have even guessed this was an issue. I'd never consider backing out after agreed, and didn't even think others would (I'm too trusting I guess)

So, based on what I'm reading here it seems it was on occasion, and therefore I concur with the others, great move.

I also agree with what was said above, the system should also take 1 sided feedback in the case of one person backing out.

Thanks for the great forum and community, it's a pleasure to participate in!

Very glad to see this after someone backed out of a trade "because something just doesn't feel right." Never provided a real reason and left me negative feedback that a mod had to clean up.

Great to see this change as it it a definite improvement.

Maybe as a follow-up the Bad Trader forum link could be put in the drop-down menu under trading. It already has ISO:FT listed there. Many people don't know about the Bad Trader threads and if more people read them, it would be clearer to some what you should and/or should not do when trading. It really should be required reading for all traders imo.

Anyway, thanks to Todd and the mods who contributed to this important change.

so if a proposed trader makes you feel worried and creeps you out, the ba system demands you go through with the trade regardless? If I don't feel comfortable with how a conversation is going I would rather stop the trade before shipping, sorry thats common sense.
