Did any of the aborted batch of Upland Persimmon come into the hands of any BA's? I'm curious to hear from anybody who has been able to try it.

I guess I was hoping that some Indy-area folk that are tight with the brewery may have gotten a bottle or two, or at least got to try it.

Personally, I'd be totally okay with a flat bottle of Persimmon versus the typical gusher.

    No, that's right.

All we know is some guy told some guy that yeah, Persimmon will be back for Upland Sourfest. Maybe that's where we get to reclaim our IOU, maybe that info isn't correct. It's all speculation.

FYI, Upland: am totally cool with Sour Reserve b3 instead of Persimmon. Just throwing it out there.

no, Cari from Upland told my buddy who told me....but obviously there's nothing that's been officially released from Upland about this. and my buddy didn't give me any other details about their conversation other than she also told him that Gilgamesh is going to be released under a new name (which isn't new info) and that it's 3-4 months away. either way, I'm just glad I can now be known as "some guy"

There was a whisper of Gilgamesh being next down this way too, but there are other Bloomington BAs that can comment with more authority.

One of my best friends has a relative that is an Upland brewer so I got to try one of the bottles. Apparently there is decent variation, especially with regards to carbonation. The one I tried had an awfully funky nose (rotten cheese). The taste was similar to the smell of a rotten persimmon, shocking... Cloudy yellow color

When I moved to Indiana somebody gave me some persimmon pie and I spit that shit out so fast nobody would speak to me for a week. I would rather try voodoo maple bacon donut before a persimmon beer.

I remember the picture. It was a mistake. I tried for months to get a bottle but they dumped it.

yeah, i remember that posting... i believe a couple of bottles were taken to tastings by Upland reps, too - didn't Kahn's get one opened at the store this past summer/fall?
