So I think it's been 2 years since I went.. But the first year they had it at city market it was inside..

So has that changed... Is it just outside city market in the front? Why not inside anymore?

1st 2 years was at DeveloperTown in Broad Ripple. Moved to City Market 3rd inside. Outside the city market last year.
Why? I don't know for sure, however I suspect they can get more people outside than inside, and the flow of people was awful inside. It appears that there will be heavy rain 2 years in a row outside, though.

My investment in a full Frog Toggs suit for DLD two years ago looks better and better with each passing beer fest. Hope to see a lot of you soon.

Well. I attended my first Upland Sour Fest.

I won't be back. Weather was out of their control and I dealt with that part fine. It was too disorganized. I apparently wasted money on VIP because they started letting GA in not long after 1 instead of 2 like they. After entry I had no clue where the VIP presentation was, finally the owner actually directed us inside. Also no one knew where our shirts were. Found them by chance at the merch tent. Never was anyone at the SBS tent with the lanyards.

    Pass. Way too disappointing.

I always hear nothing but bad things about this fest. Not to mention Ale Emporium, Thomlinson's Taproom and others got a bunch of sours that were going to the fest. I'm hoping Upland reevaluates what they're doing and takes a look at all of the remaining bottles leftover from lotteries and readjusts their focus.

I had the same VIP experience as you. Frankly I was very surprised as this was my third year with VIP tix and it has generally been a very good and pretty well organized experience. This year it seemed that nobody knew what was going on. I sent a long email to the new sour brand manager. I'll let you know if I get a response

Please post back here. I tweeted at them during the fest to no response. Even today. Once I'm home I'll be sending an email. I'm mostly pissed about what I paid for VIP tix which was a waste.

We showed up about 1:45PM expecting to see a line. Walked right in, and in fact our IDs were never checked. I've never obtained VIP tix for this fest, as I had been given the advice that it wasn't worth it. Don't SBS members get VIP tix as part of their membership?
From GA point of view, the fest was good. The rain the last hour was bad, but i mostly had sampled everything I had wanted to try by that point. Last year the rain came earlier.
Kudos to CASA, Four Fathers, Fonta Flora, Madtree, Penrose, 3 Floyds, Une Annee, Shorts all brought very good sample.
Paradox either did not come or bring beer and was replaced by Yazoo.

SBS get a free GA ticket and can pay the difference in cost to make it VIP. Also get first crack at VIP tickets.

Enjoyed the fest, but agree with the posters above. When I got out of the VIP tasting event and started going to the tents, I noticed there wasn't a line to get in.. This was like 1:30 or so. That's not cool. People paid good money for that hour of VIP.
