I have no idea how difficult these beers are to acquire and was wondering if someone could give me some input. I had one at a tasting recently and loved it, so now I want to see if I can try some more. Thanks
they aren't too tough to come across with a little effort - nothing to crazy to get them except for maybe the more interesting ones (Kiwi?). I put in an order online last year when 4 came out and had a guy mule and I sent him a little thank you box (not sure if that is still their policy). This year's batches for me were certainly better than those I bought online - all of them gushed and I lost half the bottle. That Raspberry was damn good - I opened up a Blackberry that was really nice last week.
They ARE available off the shelf for some flavors from time to time and have been ( at least in the past ) under $20. I have driven up to Upland to pick up my reservations on a few occasions and found multiple cases of them at Sahara Mart just down the road for a dollar or two cheaper than what I was paying direct. Im sure they are available at a few other locations as well when they release a batch.
This used to be the case until about a year ago, but not longer is. The last batches were smaller and there have been none on shelves for a while outside of Gilgamesh.
Uplands are a bit of a conundrum because they don't have a ton of trade "value", but the past few releases have only been a 1 or 2 bottle limit of each fruit (each release is different), so a few of them may be a pain to trade for. For what its worth, my favorites are persimmon, peach, kiwi and blackberry. Least favorites are cherry and dantalion, but neither are bad.
Well, I am currently working out some deals with the creeper. We just got a box of MI goodies, and are working out another with a T25. Mr. other the great.
I've been skunked on the last three online reservations now, so they are definitely harder to come by as of last year. Before then you could reserve them the day after, but I couldn't even navigate the website on the recent ones due to the high traffic and thus, no bottles for me.
Craft beer is growing fast as is trading. If Ebay sticks to the no beer sales it might makes things slightly, very slightly, easier for those wanting to enjoy the beer.
Should a Surly Syx be able to land one of the lambics from Upland? I've had the blackberry, and raspberry, and would like to try one of the others.
It'd probably be a good start to a trade that would work, but I don't think it'd be able to get most of them on its own. Maybe with a previous trading partner or with multiples expanded to shelf locals on their end. Bramble Rye (which I see you have in your gots) would probably be more likely to do it.
