The package I sent was on the truck when this message showed up on tracking: The package was damaged in transit. UPS will notify the sender with details. Damaged merchandise discarded, balance being returned. UPS will notify the sender with the details. Not really sure what to do here. I thought I packed it well. All of the bottles were wrapped in a big trash bag and each wrapped in bubble wrap. I'm suspecting theft, but I don't know. Anyone else have this happen to them or have seen this message? What was the end result? I wish they would just send the damn thing with the broken contents, and I can resend whatever was broken.
http://beeradvocate.com/community/threads/interesting-ups-exception.31404/ Hoping this happens, but well see...
I had the exact same thing happen to me yesterday & I absolutely packed the shit out of my box. Just checked the tracking info & it's on it's way back to my apartment.
Nothing you can do but wait and find out how bad the damage was. Great packaging isn't going to stop certain things from happening, like a forklift running into a box.
Now I got a random email from a woman saying the following: The package was damaged in transit. I will need a description and receipt of the contents. We will receive confirmation from UPS as to the details of the damage and claim papers that we will file with UPS in a couple of days. The email doesn't even seem legit or official. It seems to be someone's personal email. I don't know if I should go with the "collectible bottles" route, or just be up front about it and claim "I didn't know". (Despite my lying about the contents, when they asked what was inside when I shipped it.) I guess I'm screwed.
Just got my box back & it looks like someone took a samurai sword to it. One bomber broke that was on the edge of the box, but the rest was okay.
Yea I sent an email back saying they were "collectible bottles" and were a birthday present. Im gonna play the dumb card like a champion! There's no signs of them starting to send mine back. The tracking says something along the lines of damage discovered, investigating a claim. I'm wondering what was broken. Hopefully none of the rare stuff!
Either this "damaged in transit" thing is an excuse for them to open it up, or there are a LOT of these packages being handled by Clumsy McButterfingers lately.
